Very dark red. Crisp finish. Not a ton of flavor going on with the finish. Almost like a watered down cranberry juice which was surprising given the mind sees the dark color and expects a bigger profile.

2015 Napa Trip - Day 3: We really quite enjoyed this. Very refreshing. Fine bubbles. Full bodied, and a pleasant elevated finish. Notes of cranberry. Super tasty. Maybe a little overpriced, but good enough for me to buy 2 bottles.

Served with father’s day brunch of huevos rancheros, roasted green chile cheese grits and biscuits. A beautiful ruby sparkling wine in the glass, great in the kitchen watching the cook, with a splash of OJ and with the grits.
Gambini: Oh, oh, oh, I'm sorry, you testified earlier that the boys went into the store and you had just begun to make breakfast. You were just ready to eat. You heard a gun shot. That's right, I'm sorry. So obviously it takes you five minutes to make breakfast. Tipton: That's right. Gambini: Right, so you knew that. Uh, do you remember what you had? Tipton: Eggs and grits. Gambini: Eggs and grits. I like grits too. How do you cook your grits? You like 'em regular, creamy, or al dente? Tipton: Just regular, I guess. Gambini: Regular. Instant grits? Tipton: No self-respecting southerner uses instant grits. I take pride in my grits.

Bought this bottle at the Napa Valley winery's tasting room for $35 and served with a duck confit omlette. This sparkler is mostly Pinot (Noir? Meunier?) with a splash of Chardonnay (the website isn't specific concerning the wine's composition). This is a rich, dark, complexly flavored sparkler. The color is quite red for a rose sparkler (evidently the grape skins spent significiant time in contact with the juice during the maceration process) and the flavor profile is much earthier than most Pinot sparklers I've had, resulting in more of the usual Pinot flavor/texture attributes (cherry, strawberry, and especially, earthiness components). The wine isn't terribly bubbly (it goes somewhat "flat" after a short while, so if you enjoy your bubbles, drink this sparkler quickly) but has dark, rich flavor notes. I strongly recommend drinking this sparkler with a rich, complex dish (this went incredibly well with the duck confit omlette) because of it's complex, earthy flavors. I would not recommend lounging around the house sipping this sparkler before dinner; it's much too serious a bottle.

Napa Valley, July 2009; 7/9/2009-7/11/2009 (Napa Valley, CA): This sparkling wine shows the red fruit on the nose with scents of raspberry to complement the apple scents. When tasted, this is simple and easy with some honey flavors mixing in with the raspberries. The bubbles in this seem a little finer than in the blanc de blanc.

My first trip to Napa, Ca.; 7/9/2009-7/11/2009: I think the kid in me really enjoyed this, it was like sparkling fruit juice. Very fruity, cranberry, pomegranate flavors along with very light bubbles. Surprisingly some heat hit on the finish. I won't lie, I enjoyed it. I would take it to my next monster truck rally as I am sure it would taste great out of a plastic cup.

Awful, awful, awful. Another example of why red shouldn't have bubbles in it (with the exception of a few Aussie sparkling shiraz). The lack of acidity and the presence of tannins made for a poor drinking experience. Not enough fruit either. Not recommended.

Grace called it "an acquired taste". More like disappointing. Naturally fermented 100% sparkling pinot noir. Janet and I liked it much better when we tried it at the winery a couple of summers ago. The sparkle disappeared in seconds and the overall taste experience was more akin to a still pinot noir, which was not the desired effect.
