  • This bottle has some citrus fruit, gooseberries, lemon grass, lemon zest, stony minerality, and good acidity. It has all the elements of my previous bottles of this vintage. However, it seems that the fruit has faded somewhat and the wine, at least for this bottle, has lost some of its vibrancy. It has been stored in a 55 degree cellar since release.

  • Good citrus fruit, gooseberries, lemon grass, lemon zest, stony minerality, plus lively acidity. Nice length, very full and round, and a great balance between fruit, acidity and minerality.

  • Going from memory, we had a bottle of this wine last evening and it was fantastic! Lots of citrus fruit, minerality and such complexity with a long finish. Bravo!

  • Dark straw color
Medium plus aromas of lemon/ tarragon and green herbs with distinctive underlying dry stone minerality and bit of petrichor
Medium bodied - linear and densely structured with rounded edges
Palate of lemon zest/ herbs and minerality
Medium plus acidity and medium alcohol
Great length and wonderful balance of fruit/ acid/ minerality
A great Sancerre and a fantastic bargain at 40ish dollars!
Being literally bored with most of the SB out there, its really nice to drink one of these premium wines now and then to see what can occur with a top quality site and winemaker
Drinking very well now but I see this aging for 10 yrs at least

  • Beautifully clean bouquet with mainly yellow fruits. Same on the palate, beautiful and fresh citrus, some minerals and vanilla as well as a slight touch of pleasant sweetness. 92 – 93

  • really nice, crisp (at least for a 2018), with some good minerality and citrus fruit, great QPR (at least based on my burgundy comparisons)

  • I am giving up trying to figure out if I like the Mont Damnes or Beaujeu more. They are both delicious. This one is ripe and full but still light and fresh. Some saline and petrichor. Definitely scratches the occasional SB itch.

  • First Gerard Boulay and definitely not the last. Elegant with sensual viscosity and complex.
A most intriguing Sancerre, not wild but subtle. Classic SB flavors, just dialed down a notch.
Served with a slight chill. Excellent now and still has at least a couple of years to go.

  • I'm not normally wowed by Sancerres, but this one is very impressive. A very appealing nose of white peach, blossom and honey, then a quite soft, slightly sweet but not cloying mouthful of citrus fruits, peach and honey, with just enough crisp pear flavours to stop it going syrupy. Ripe but not overripe, I can see this improving further in years to come.

  • Complex, mineral driven Sauvignon Blanc wine (100 percent), sourced from one of the best vineyards sites in the Sancerre appellation, the steepest part of the ‘Cul de Beaujeu-cru’ (a 0.75 hectares plot of 30- to 60-year-old vines, located in the tiny hamlet of Chavignol, three kilometers west of the city of Sancerre). The wine was fermented with natural yeasts and aged for nine months on its fine lees in used oak barrels and stainless-steel tanks. Youthful straw-yellow in color and an exciting nose revealing scents of white blossoms, grapefruit, lemon peel and also some hints of freshly cut grass and fennel. The medium-bodied and extremely well-balanced palate is marked by concentrated and luscious gooseberry and pineapple fruit, great depth and a wonderful supporting acidity. Long mineral finish with a slight touch of honey. The wine is already drinking very well now, yet definitely no problem for aging. Optimal enjoyment: now–2028.

  • By the glass. Honeyed aromas of ripe tropical fruits (pineapple, papaya). Good density with a mineral touch and acidity enough that balances the whole and lengthens its persistence in the mouth.

Por copas. Melosos aromas a frutas tropicales maduras (piña, papaya). Buena densidad con un toque mineral y una acidez que equilibra el conjunto y alarga su persistencia en boca.

  • Superb! Mineral, sweet crystallized sugar lime/lemon. Fresh acidity, especially considering the vintage.
really a wonderful expression of Beaujeu.

  • Lime and some ripe fruits on the nose. A full bodied Sancerre with great balance of ripe fruit and the classic minerality/acidity that is Sauvignon blanc. I really enjoyed this on a warm summer nite with fresh tuna, salad and herbed rice.
