This wine drank surprisingly better after a mediocre experience last year. Decanted almost 90 minutes before tasting. Taste consisted of dark berries and oak. Decent finish. Still not a memorable merlot.

This wine was just ok- we tasted some cherry, and the wine opened a little with some decanting. But it wasn't special in any way and there are many better merlots available for a lower price.

I am usually a fan of Sattui merlots, but this missed the mark. My father-in-law could not drink it, describing it as too funky or musky. It definitely did not show any bright fruit. Maybe it was a bad bottle?

Nose of dark cherries, strawberries, BUT there is plenty of oak. The oak is very strong and you cant help but notice it. On the palate, its very oaky. If you can get past the oak, the fruits are there. Plenty of dark cherries, plums and strawberries. Tannins are not overpowering either. Overall,very average wine for me.
