Retail $45. Under cork. Every once in a while, I get a hankering for a taste of Alsace, I studied there while in college and it was where I had my first exposure to wine. I bought this well over a decade ago and held onto it despite the fact that 2003 was a difficult year, a really difficult year (extreme heatwave). The cork was still solid and eventually came out intact. Close to golden in the glass with intense petrol, peach, pear, and a hint of golden apple. The palate is surprisingly austere, with some fruit but rather intense acidity and that petrol aspect. This is one of those wines that I loved (due in large part to my Alsatian "roots") but my wife hated (because its "old"). Sure, it's not pristine, it's not perhaps what it was or what the winemaker intended, but it is tasty, well-made, and takes me back almost instantly to Strasbourg. And that is just fine with me.
1st Anniversary dinner at Bekta with Cathy. From memory. Youthful and classic Riesling nose of apple, slate, lime, honey. Palate was fresh, balanced, glycerol on the lush mid-palate. Long finish. Great wine. Loads of potential still.

Medium yellow. Fresh aromas of peach, citrus, lanolin. Pretty much dry, intense mid-palate of minerals, honey, yellow stonepit fruits, almost tannic, slightly warm, long long finish. Outstanding wine and frankly still young-tasting.

Very nice stony Riesling, with layers of moderately deep, rich fruit without any heavyness and good length, too. Improved over time; best slightly chilled but not cold.

Seattle Tasting Group does 'Teutonic' Whites (Seattle, WA): A hint of botrytis, apricot, a ripe nose. Some paraffin. Mmm, the palate leads with a huge wave of acid, rather aggressive at first, loads of kerosene, lime, wet stone, not fully integrated at first. Wow, this has a HUGE finish, and with air this quickly fills out and comes together. Wowza, that finish is just spectacular, lingering. Well done!
