Good by itself, also with food. Blackberry, stone fruit, cassis, leather, tobacco on nose. Mouthfeel is fruit balanced with tannins, full bodied, nice acid balance, black and white pepper finish.

Fruit forward Syrah with dark berries, smoke and a nuanced spice. Not complex but good QPR. Needs some air or a pour through an aerator. Dropped my previous rating from 89 to 85 because the wine goes downhill after the 2nd day. Drinking nicely now but don't hold out much hope for improvement from cellaring.

Black and blue fruit, tar, smoke, and fresh herb aromas and flavors. Savory yet fruity, with a velvety mouthfeel, melted tannin, and a dusting of white pepper throughout. Lovely all around and a tremendous value.

Andrew Murray's 2017 Syrah Tous les Jours offers a lot of bank for the buck. Uncorked and poured, it flaunts an immediately accessible aromatic profile of Bing cherries, boysenberries, smoked meat, black olive tapenade and licorice. Medium-to-full-bodied, freshly acidic, seamlessly alcoholic (14.5%), appropriately oaked and with medium sweet tannins, it delivers flavors mirroring the nose. Although the mid-palate thins a bit, it resurrects a respectable, medium-length finish. This should be at its best over the next 3-4 years. Drink now-2025.

A really nice surprise at this price point! Wonderful lush nose. Blackberry, spice and some soft but noticeable tannins mid-palate with a medium finish. Held up the 2nd day, but didn't improve Some complexity that would be expected in a more expensive Syrah. Nice!!

This opens very nicely with an appealing bouquet and reasonable complexity. However, after a night in the fridge it transformed into a disjointed mess. So always finish the bottle, I guess!

Nose: Covid Taste: some tobacco, oak, liquorice with an alcohol after taste which should be expected for a cheaper wine. This wine is definitely a high value. A great Thursday night wine. I would drink it again.

Giving this 88 points but 93 points in value. Blueberry nose, fruit, herb and spice with a medium body in the mouth. I have always enjoyed this Syrah and continue to do so. This is one of those wines that even wine savvy drinkers will enjoy as well as beginners.

Dark fruit, a touch of preserves, herbs and subtle char. I liked it well enough but wasn’t quite as strong as I remember — it was well made, but I couldn’t any additional things that would make me come back to it. That said, maybe I missed something, so will have to come back to it!

Gave 2.5h air to this Santa Ynez Syrah. Medium purple color. Aromas of plum, cherry, toffee, forest floor, new leather and baking spice. Satiny and supple on the palate, medium-full bodied, with a backbone of fine-grained tannins. Very primary and fruity, with stewed cherry and plum on the palate, hints of blueberry and spice in the mid-palate and a dusty, sweet finish. Perfectly fine at this price.

Opened last night and left in the bottle, part of the time in the fridge. Purple-ruby color with glass-coating tears. Really impressive, especially at this price. The nose offers aromas of blueberry, raspberry and violets. Pretty flavors of blueberry, black olive, lavender and chocolate are all in evidence. This is smooth and polished, and very light on its feet, but with decent body. Tannins are present but quite chewy and lovely. Long finish. This way over-delivers for the money. I a word, it's yummy. Leaving this overnight did it a world of good. 5-13-16-8: 92/100. One thing to add: I am almost shocked at how good this wine is. I know this producer well, and this is easily the best this particular bottling has ever been. I suggest drinking it at about 60 degrees, as I took this out of the fridge and tasted it about a half hour later--and definitely give it some time to breathe, preferably a day in advance.

Notes after following for 2 days open. Very dark ruby color with lightly stained legs and no sediment. Profound aroma of oak and cassis with a moderate hit of alcohol. Buttery texture with very ripe blackberry and a lot of oak, along with light astringency. No hiding the alcohol on the palate, either. Simple overall. 5+10+13+6= 84

Nov-21 update: opened to go with a tri-tip because we know that “Lazy Bones” wouldn’t cut it. Not disappointed and bumped 1pt.
May-21 update: an old friend has returned. Red and black fruit balanced with leather and good acidity. Perhaps a touch hot. Unlike the last one, this stayed enjoyable over all 3 days.
Best right after opening, seemed to close by day 3. Either drink quickly or wait and see.
Day 1: tapas consisting of sausages, salmon, and corn pie, deep purple-red, barnyard, tangy acidity, black licorice
Day 2: chicken larb, similar to day 1
Day 3: turkey burgers with tater tots and caprese salad, not getting much from the nose, hot

Deep purple with an aromatic nose. Medium bodied, juicy, medium tannins. Acidity builds during a long finish. Nicely balanced. Excellent QPR!
Surprisingly, it barely changed when paired with a grilled filet. Was hoping for some explosion, didn’t get it. Oh well, won’t hesitate to get this again.
👍
Edit - was even better on the second day

Amazing & consistent value. TLJ is always well-made, and the 2017 is a particularly solid vintage. Excellent fruit with some complexity too - - definitely my favorite "everyday Syrah" at the price point.
