Transparent ruby. Nose jumps with candied raspberry underpinned by ripe cherry, herbal stem, slightly medicinal even. Palate is gorgeous with tons of energy. Beautiful tart cherry, raspberry, incredible tension from zippy acidity, rocky character as well. Tannins are consistent for pinot but there is significant structure here. Finish is long. Nice balance just underripe strawberry, tart raspberry, and tense minerality. There is very subtle oak throughout the background, but it is in perfect balance.
So delicious. Purchased on sale for $20 and my first experience with Goodfellow. I am very disappointed to have not tried Goodfellow sooner. This is world class Pinot and is an outrageous value.
Drink now with a short decant, though I think this should cruise for another 5 years.
Day 2: I saved two 5oz bottles for a tasting with a friend. When poured into the glass, the wine completely transformed. It smelled and tasted like properly aged Pinot. Take all the sous bois, underbrush, earth, and leaves you want. Palate still had some nice consistent fruit but was not bombastic as it was on day 1. Big tannins and acid too, huge structure.
I am blown away. Unfortunately I missed the Goodfellow vs Burg tasting, but I feel pretty strongly that this would compete with ease.
What a difference 6 months makes! This was great right out of the bottle. Red fruit on the nose, warming mouthfeel, a little forest floor. Good acid, balanced tannins. First glass had about an hour of air; enjoyed the remainder over the next 6 hours. QPR.

Wow, especially for the price! Tasted over two days. A bit tight at first. This will be even better with time. Translucent ruby color. Nose was primarily cherry leaning floral rather than spice. Palate was red fruit, sous bois, lots of acid and a bit more tannic bite than other Goodfellow (still in balance, though). Very enjoyable and clearly well made. Wish I had more.

Ruby color, lots of cherry, red fruit, and pie spice, pretty intense aroma but has a balanced elegance on the palate. Has a good acid backbone. Based upon comments I've read abut his Ribbon Ridge and Whistling Ridge wines, I was expecting a bigger, more backward wine, but this has considerable elegance. It's slightly lean, but with great, pure fruit, and taut, focused acidity, and it's clearly built to age. I have a lot more experience with this producer's whites than his pinots, but if this is an indication of the quality of their pinot, I clearly need to buy more since this is a style I really love.

Drank with Eyrie estate - very pretty red fruit with plenty of acidity and a nice tannin finish. Opened up considerable over the night, saved a glass for the next day, still improving. Very pretty, clean, tart wine, easy to drink.

another great bottle. This one again needed over 2 hours of air to really come together but was more friendly before that mark than the previous bottle. very happy to have a stash of this

This needed 3 days to come around, and it was quite nice when it did. Definitely do not drink this on Day 1, as all you'll get is acid. I would suggest holding for at least another year. If you cannot wait, give it 6 hours of air, and then run through an aerator.

heavy reload on this so decided to open one from this shipment. This bottle soaked up air much slower. was muted and harshly structured for the first 2.5 hours. I was worried i had a bad bottle. At 2.5 hours it blossomed into typical Goodfellow. Pure red fruits, some woodsy funk and spice with minerals and the structure balanced out

Heavy bottle. Very light color. Oregon damp earth, cranberry, with a Christmas spice aroma. Light acidity keeps focus. Palate became more linear on day two. Drink within 3-5 years.

did not listen to my own advice and opened another bottle of this. this bottle had more of a floral component to it with the rest if the previous notes falling in line. I can definitely agree with this being very volnay like but also recognizably not burgundy as well. I guess that is what OR pinot is pretty much all about and I think Goodfellow is making a benchmark at this point

Volnay-ish. Nice funk on the nose, richer fruit (as opposed to bright). A little more newer oak in this, per the winemaker, which is why this is not a single vineyard designate. Super QPR. Would be a nice entry-level wine for the "get a case and try 1 bottle a year" approach.

could not wait any longer to try one of these and happy i did. a really nice wine in the making. lots of layers that need some bottle time to come together. damp woodsy funk, a spectrum of red fruit from strawberry to darker cherries, a little pepper, and crushed rocks. fine tannins and a good streak of acid as the backbone. i think this will drink really well from 2022-2027 but you wont be mad if you open one before then. decant for an hour. a QPR superstar

Clear ruby color. Seems hotter than 13% abv. Pretty red fruit flavors. Both delicate and powerful.
