Wine makes me happy and has taught me about life.

I’ve learned not to defer happiness for a potentially better outcome down the road. I’m trying to be more hedonistic and enjoy things as they come.

I’ve learned that a transcendent experience can’t be recreated by buying the same stuff and doing it again. You can’t swim in the same river twice.

I’ve learned that money matters and can buy you nicer things. But pricier things also carry the weight of expectations and may not provide the same thrill that comes from an experience that’s simple yet complete.

I’m based in Piedmont, California. Please reach out if you’re in the Bay Area and would like to drink some wine.

12/31/2020 10:41:00 PM - Hi Chris, while reading your profile i am considering how most of your thoughts can be applied to our whole life. And you are very right, if you buy a dear and expensive wine you really do have expectations. Imho it has a lot to do with your specific personal circumstance at that time! Happy New Year from the Old World! Christian

5/5/2020 8:59:00 AM - Hi Chris - thanks for the kind words on my tasting story. 2020 Corona Virus quarantine is strange times for sure. Realizing we are living through a major historical event thought it would great to catalogue the events, thoughts, feelings and wines for future perusal. Stay safe!!

6/7/2018 10:08:00 AM - I really love old Chinon - like 20 and 30 years - but this wine is incredibly appealing in its freshness. I finished the bottle the second night and while still very good, it showed its deeper flavors. For this wine I prefer the freshness. So I'm not going to let my remaining ones hang around other than just the next few years.
