Fully mature plum/dark cherry fruit, carries through on nose and palate. Fills out with air. Food-friendly acidity. Good depth and length. Excellent. Tannic. Time to drink.

From a top vintage. Wine still show good color, lots of cedar aroma, medium length, good complexity, classic pauillac. Should hold for another 3 to 5 years.

Delicious wine. Initially notes of dark and black fruit and violets. With some time resolved to red fruit, cherry, berry and lots of cedar plus some herbs. Became more youthful with some time open. Delicious with the herbal, rack of lamb and the gold potato with herbs.
Drink now.

Medium-dark red color ( surprisingly youthful for a 20 year old Cru Bourgeois). Vanilla, smoke, plum, and a hint of herb in the bouquet. Soft, delightfully mature Pauillac. At its peak. Ripe fruit, medium-bodied, good length, complex, round flavor. Charming Pauillac! I don’t think I’ve ever put these two words together before. Perhaps the high percentage of Merlot used at this property is responsible. A Cru Bourgeois of Grand Cru quality. This is my last of two bottles. Wish I’d bought more!

One of those secret wines of Bordeaux that holds its own in more esteemed company. This one is still youthful and needed time to settle down when decanted . Very good value for money

Decanted about 20 minutes before trying. Some bricking around the edges. This is classic Pauillac on the nose with aromas of saddle leather, smoke, lead pencil, dried cherry and earth. This is quite nice on the palate with flavors of dried cherry, blackberry, iron and earth. Still pretty youthful. Interested to see how this evolves over a few hours.

Still a deep colour. Nose of black cherries (black forest gateau!) and pencil shavings. A little acidic straight out of the bottle. Settled down after an hour in the decanter. Nice bottle to go with Sunday lamb dinner. Seemed to me, would be good for another few years.

Notes of currants overlaid with layers of plums, dark cherries, and dark berries with fleeting hints of sweet earth, cedar, and pencil shavings - definitely more of a fruity wine than a complex one. Good sweetness, round texture, nice fruit, and medium-length finish. better after 3 hours

Opened the bottle 4.5 hours before drinking, decanted 2 hours before. Got aromas of leather, cigar box, mushroom, a hint of cherry and smoke on the nose. Wine still appeared youthful with no real bricking at this point. Very dark. Very smooth tannins on this wine with flavors of blackberry, smoke, earth, currant and touch of iron. Still a lot of life left in this. Young almost. Will be interesting to revisit on night two.

Absolutely delicious wine. This is why we buy and cellar wine and also why Bordeaux is truly wonderful. A modest $21 Cru Bourgeois that shows the joy of the 2000 vintage. Still shockingly dark with loads of funky tobacco. Earthy and dark with wonderful acidity. Dusty, silky tannins still present yet with loads of fruit. Quite a bright future for this modest wine.

Quintessential mature claret - absolutely delicious. Mid-red in colour. Very evolved and balanced - nothing overpowering, just rounded nicely with real length. Earthy, dried fruit on the nose. Medium tannins with decent acidity on a midweight palate, accompanied by an earthy and very attractive red fruit.
Very good value indeed at £15 and just the thing for a midweek supper.

This wine was tasted in double-blind fashion at Vintage Wines, Ltd. The bottle was kindly provided by Dan Ballard. Opaque ruby robe with red rim. Clean nose, showing moderately intense aromas of black currants, vanilla and tarragon. Full-bodied on the palate, with low-to-medium acidity and medium dry tannins. The flavors are black fruit and mineral-driven and the middle palate is full. Medium, astringent finish. Although reasonably appealing, this wine is a bit too rustic for my palate and, in the context of the vintage, somewhat of a disappointment. Perhaps some additional cellaring will soften the tannins and make the wine a bit more attractive. Drink 1/13-12/20.

This has smoothed out nicely - very nice espec for the price-deep scarlet colour, nose of cedar, red currants-a smoky bell pepper overlay that is very subtle-light to med bodied, very light on its feet but with v good length-wine-y, well balanced, V "Bordeaux" in a good way-great food wine- no secondary flavours or aromas but drinking well now and over the next 2-4 years.

Popped and poured; didn't need decanting. Drank over the course of 3 hours and evolved nicely. Really drinking well, with berry fruit and notes of meat. Rich mouthfeel, although tannins never quite soften. Almost a 90 plus, but the wine never quite puts it all together. For around $20, I highly recommend it.

Decanted about two hours before tasting. On the nose, plum, black cherry, currant and lots of green bell pepper. On the palate, thin to medium-bodied with plum, black currant and green bell pepper, with some spice on the shortish finish. Acidity was low. The bell pepper on the nose and palate was a real turn off for me, there are plenty of better Bdx in this vintage for the money.

Tasted unblinded from the Vintage Wines, Ltd. wine bar. Bright disc. Opaque black robe with purple rim. Clean nose, showing moderately intense aromas of cassis, underbrush, mint and vanilla. Full-bodied on the palate, with low acidity, ample ripe tannins and similar flavors as for the nose. Medium, fairly smooth finish. Very nice, but the vintage is so wonderful that it provides a plethora of better choices at comparable cost.

Now working on my third and final bottle. Fantastic Pauillac aromatics, but the fruit is now losing the battle. I recommend starting to drink up.

Solid, medium bodied paulliac that lacks complexity and secondary flavors.
Opened a day in advance and then a 1-2 hour decant before dinner.
