Nose of a melange of red fruits, tobacco and floral aromas to a lesser extent. Palate of wood, tea, cassis, blueberries. There was quite a bit of oakiness to this bottle. Tannins were present, but not too harsh, approachable at present. I enjoyed it but it fell a little short of expectations. Perhaps a couple more years of aging would make it more seamless.
No doubt a very nice wine. That being said I don’t necessarily think, at least this vintage, is a great wine. Sometimes I think people rate a wine based on what they think it should be or their expectations, and not what it is. But to each their own and it was very nice steak wine…
Really nice - first raw edged as gone and what remains is a silky fruit of plum, dark cherry and forest floor. Still good acidity & tannin. Enjoyed with rigatoni bolognese & some good friends.

Deep garnet red. Intense flavors of red cherry strawberry and a bit of plum. At the beginning of a very nice drinking window full bodied with lots of ripe tannins for many more years to come and excellent length

Despite its 30,000-case production, Tignanello continues to sell out due to its global demand and relatively reasonable prices. However, production was reduced by 30% in 2017 because of the tough vintage conditions. 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc. 50% new oak (French and Hungarian). The nose is beautiful and complex. Cedar, tobacco, sweet spices and herbs, a touch of vanilla with dark red berry fruit in the background. On the palate, you get more of a sour cherry with typical Sangiovese acidic structure and noticeable but approachable tannins with food. Some menthol. It manages to feel both international in style while staying true to Sangiovese. Like many high-end wines, it manages to up the intensity while still staying smooth and elegant. I can see why it’s so popular. The structure should give it a run way to age and improve. I like this better than Antinori’s Solaia, which is majority Cabernet Sauviginon but harvested from the same property. 95+

Absolutely super wine and fun to drink now. A little tight and dry on opening, came alive and into balance in an hour, creamy luscious and singing at the two hour mark. Beautiful.
PnP, served blind and should have decanted. This is a tasty wine, clearly Sangiovese, but a hint of green notes and blue fruit from the cab/cab franc. Actual blend is not disclosed that I can see.
It’s got a medium ruby color, with open aromas of bing cherry, a little new leather, compact berry notes and a fairly stern tannic finish. Will turn into a nice wine although I don’t think I’ll ever be able to tell you from where….

Medium ruby colored. Blackberries, red cherries and soft fresh leather in the nose. On the palate sour cherries, fresh plum, sweetened blueberries, raspberries and some vanilla notes in the background. Some clay and herbal notes too. Medium (+) bodied with a lively medium intense acidity. Very refined tannins, already nicely integrated. Great structure and depth for such a young Supertuscan. Quite polished mouth feeling. Very nice balance. It’s not the most complex wine but it will for sure gain more complexity with some more age. The finish is savory and medium long to long. Although this is very young it’s already drinking surprisingly well. Make sure to give it a proper decanting and drink from now until 2035. (IG)

Only after a 4h decant did it start showing what it is capable of and will be capable of in another 3-4 years. Dark, sumptuous, delicious. Generous nose of sweet cherry and hints of blackcurrant, leather and some slight medicinal notes. Almost sweet on the (mid-)palate, with velvetty tannins (mostly at close) and good acidity. Long finish. Very obviously 2017, but what a wine.

Classic Tignanello - very consistent characteristics, perhaps a little shorter on the finish. Excellent, despite the year not being the best in Chianti. As always, well priced for the quality
Consistent with other reviews. Rich berry fruits with a broading undertones of clay, iron, wet tobacco on the palate which is intriguing. The body and weight is a bit light and watery.

Decanted for three plus hours and this needed all of them. Dark and a bit brooding. Leather, blackberry, and oak. Firm, but fine tannins. This should be even better in ten years or so.
I think I just found my favorite Italian wine... so far! Wow!! So young and so inviting. Leather, tobacco, sweet fruit and awsome minerality and a finish that won't quit... ai ai ai. Amazing! Can only imagine what it will be like in 10 years.
Opened for 4th of July rack of lamb with the family. Greeted by spice, oak, tobacco and leather on the nose, this bad boy had to breathe for about 2 hrs before it really showed its character and it settled in for the palate. For some reason I tasted a helluva lot more cab than I expected, very fruity and in your face towards the end, in a good way.
Having 10 bottles left, I don’t expect to be opening the next one for at least 3 years.

I’m with Alohashirt on this one. Fell far short of expectations on this particular bottle, compared with my memory of this wine from the 90s. Strong minerality, drying finish, weak red fruits. Drunk over two days with no change. Would have guessed it was Italian, but not a super Tuscan.
My biggest fear is that it is fading fast, since it did not open up at all with either food, or time
2017 was one of the hottest years in Italy, if that helps
dark fruits, dark chocolate, med acidity, firm but balanced tannin. slight herbs. very fruit forward. Lacking in complexity to justify the price. Underwhelming.

The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like strawberry and cherry. It tastes like strawberry and cherry. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.
red fruit, licorice, medicinal, medium body, quite tannic, a little bitter on the finish. This tastes like a well made wine with something lacking. It's not opulent. If I were tasting this blind I might have guessed a Brunello di Montalcino, or even a Tempranillo, that was priced between $30 and $40. I was very happy to to jump from this to a $32 2016 Bodegas Volver Triga Monastrell.
It's day 2 and it's showing a little more fruit, moving the 89 up to 90. When I spend more than $80 for a bottle of wine I am hoping to be wowed. It didn't happen this time.
One tasting is just a moment in time. If I get the chance to taste a vertical of Tignanello then I will be more confident of what I think about this wine.
Right now I don't understand the 93 and 94 point scores - to me there's no QPR here. I hope that a future experience changes my mind.
deep purple. Intense flavors of wild rasperry, strawberry, blueberry, vanilla and roasdted notes. Full bodied with still a bit rough tannins and a long juicy finish
Aerated to decanter for 2 hours the night before, returned to bottle and served blind to friends; enjoyed over nearly three hours. On day two this was, for our palates, full, interesting, complete, complex, dark red-fruited, and elegant though in a nicely subtle, clearly vintage inflected way. Some cinnamon and leather mingled with soil and forest notes emerging by the second glass adding even more interest. Lovely, with air, though I think it's best to hold for 2-3 years, at least. Not an ager, so to speak. For its full potential, it's highly recommended
Drank from a split (because I couldn't find full bottles in Toronto). Dark, tannic, lovely, and needs time. As with every vintage of this wine, I can't resist making my way through the case before it matures. This is a particularly lovely vintage, though.
From 375mL, decanted for 2 hours. Difficult vintage in Tuscany. Deep garnet. Nose is somewhat muted and expresses black cherries, graphite minerality, anise, some tobacco. Vibrant acidity, length, and moderate tannins (fine) on the palate, which also confirms the nose. Slight bitterness on the finish. Refreshing and delicious, though probably not quite at its best. Needs a few more years to open up and come into better balance. Try again in 5-10 years.

Opened 1 hour. Ruby red. On the nose: Cherry liquor , red berries and licorice. On the palate: Kirsch liquor, red berries, licorice and a bit of mushroom. The finish is broad and long. The mouthfeel is very sensuous. This is a great wine, even though it’s young.

Probably drank this too early; nose was thin, and needed more time to decrease the oak and let the fruit balance come to fore front. Tannins were prominent, but will melt into harmony with the acidity in a few years The Sangiovese and CF blend was particularly tasty and interesting. We tasted this with a Super Tuscan CS and then a Merlot blend. Each was unique.

The wine was deep purple at the core and lighter at the rim. It had no sediment and high viscosity. Alcohol was 14 % On the nose the wine was medium intensity with notes of sweet tobacco, molasses, prunes, anise, blackberries and dark cherry. On the palate the wine was medium to high tannins with medium acid and alcohol. I tasted black tea, tobacco and dark cherry. The wine was smooth with a medium to long finish . It could use many more years in the bottle!
Appearance: Deep purple core with a fuschia rim. Opaque with lots of legs (14% alcohol). No visible sediment.
Nose: So fruity! Lots of blackberry and dark cherry notes with a cameo from cassis. Sweet tobacco and anise also show up.
Palate: Medium-high tannins, medium-high acid. Alcohol is well balanced. Notes of dark cherry and orange pekoe tea. Dark chocolate shows up in the finish which lingers nicely but is on the bitter and sour side. Wine is smooth drinking but a little aging could help mellow out the tannins, alcohol, and bitterness.
Pairing: We’re pairing it with mushroom risotto, margherita pizza, and spaghetti and meatballs, and it’s perfect.
Decanted for an hour to open it up a bit. Dark ripe red plum colour. Blueberries and blackberries on the nose with smoke, earth, camphor, juniper and cocoa nibs. Full bodied, gobs of black and blue fruit extract, high tannins and good acidity. The flavours are big and lush dark chocolate covered blueberries and blackberries, sandlewood, charcoal and pumice. There are lots of tannins but they are ripe and in proportion to the fruit. The acidity is brisk at this very early stage too. This is a newborn bouncing baby wine, but it is a big boy! Has all the components for greatness, but that greatness will only start to reveal itself after AT LEAST 10 more years. Low balling it at 94 points for now but fully expect a large increase down the road.

Dinner with Three decades of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg (State Street Manor - Chicago IL): More leftovers from a bottle that had been opened the day before. Rich, fleshy and precocious, this comes across as nearly simple to start, but more and more and more kept coming through with more attention. Very good 91-93 point potential, 2023 forward.

Dark and complex. Black cherries but slightly acidic. Subtle hints of elegance but would be even better if given more time to mature.

Me gusta. Mucha fruta y humo en nariz. Se nota el cabernet.
En boca me resulta mejor que en nariz, todo bien puesto y en su justa medida. Post gusto de varios minutos.
Merece su fama.

Probably drank this too early; nose was thin, and needed more time to decrease the oak and let the fruit balance come to fore front. Tannins were prominent, but will melt into harmony with the acidity in a few years
The Sangiovese and CF blend was particularly tasty and interesting. We tasted this with a Super Tuscan CS and then a Merlot blend. Each was unique.

The wine was deep purple at the core and lighter at the rim. It had no sediment and high viscosity. Alcohol was 14 %
On the nose the wine was medium intensity with notes of sweet tobacco, molasses, prunes, anise, blackberries and dark cherry.
