Opens dark, dense and oaky. After 2 hours in carafe, firing on all cylinders. Incredible purity of red cherry fruit and cola, perfectly balanced which surprised me given the vintage. New oak signature is definitely there but not excessive. 12.5% alcohol in 2018, just fantastic. Tonight, this performed similarly to a 2009 Clos des Lambrays once it had some time to get going.

Red fruit, blue fruit and spice. Very balanced for the ripe vintage. Good fruit purity. Bachelet’s wine is becoming more approachable and feminine starting from the 2017 vintage. Slightly prefer the 2017 over 2018.

Excellent wine. Medium Red, young plum color. Aromatically, excellent intensity and expression. Spicy, inviting, draws you in from a few feet away. In the mouth, great presence, medium to full bodied. Tannins and structure quite evident but well integrated and balanced. Is there a better Gevrey AC? Doubt it but that's a style thing i suppose.

Love me the Bach. 2018 burgs to me are all over the board. Not this one. Classic proportions in a hot vintage. Bright, driving cherry fruit, without any overripe cloying weight. Plenty of subtlety, great tension. Didn't feel bad at all trying this young.

Winetasting Exclusief at Utregs Wijnhuis (Utregs Wijnhuis): [Tasted blind] I had difficulties to identify for some strange reason, I guessed Rhone. Very good although it lacks a bit of structure in my opinion (I liked the previous PN from Willamette better). From 85 year old vines on a 1,5 ha vineyard. Black fruit, ripe, forest ground, mainly primary aroma’s at the moment. Very approachable. Long finish

Trenger lufting.

All about the fruit at this stage. Ripe red plum flesh and skin, macerated dark raspberries, bits of floral too. Richly textured berry fruit and plums on the palate too, but with a nice mineral backbone and good freshness too. A floral lift in the palate. Very delicious and looking forward to seeing this again once it sheds some baby fat.

A generous yield of 52hl/ha in 2018. On average 70 year old vines. Dark and low pitched with sexy spices and juicy mixed fruits. Good fruit density and acidity balance, but not as in-depth as 2017. (87-88/100)

Bach Gev VV. Does village wine get finer? Wonderfully balanced 18. Took a few hours for the Bach purity to come out then it was game on. Great stuff.

Nose of crunchy red fruit. The palate is deep with great acidity and concentration. Notes of cranberry, cherry and citrus. Terrific village wine.

Bright and tart, pretty and very drinkable, fruit is a bit coiled up and hiding behind the high acidity. Probably better in a few years?
