Was in my cellar for several years, and was worth the time. Very bold Zin, had it with some cheese. Did not fully aerate in the carafe, used aerator - it was enough.

Purple and opaque with long legs. Ripe black plumb nose with peppery notes on the nose. The palate is more red fruit. Huge mouthfeel, strong acidity and lots of heat; suspect this is a 15%+ wine. The finish is rolling dark fruit. The wine is drinking well. 5+12+16+8=91

Last bottle. I should have bought a full case. This has been one of the best values in my inventory over the las year plus. Most of my ratings have been above those of other cellartracker.com tasters. I see there is finally a rating around mine.

Excellent zin, fruit forward and not as intense as typical zins tend to. Complex with notes of lavender on the nose and blackberry, cherry, plump on mod palate. Good long finish with little tannins. Goes well with Italian foods, charcuterie platter and rotisserie chicken.

I continue to have a terrific experience with this wine and cannot explain why I seem to rater it higher than other tasters. Maybe it is simply because I have liked the Prisoner wine style for a long time.

Fruit flavors are well defined and a little more exotic than most California zinfandel, showing more passion fruit. No real structure here though. No black pepper, rhubarb or other drying elements to balance with the ripe fruits, making this very one dimensional. Disappointing for the price.

This wine was way too sweet and syrupy. Only for wine drinkers with a sweet tooth. If you prefer old world wine, then stay away from this. If you like Caymus over-extracted fruit bombs, then you’ll like this .
No rating because I thought it was disgusting.

I picked this wine up last October at a Prisoner Wine dinner at a club I belong to. A bottle back then was good (with a positive) connotation and consistent with the price point. This bottle performed way beyond the price point. I have had this happen with Prisoner wines (both red and white) in the past........meaning they often get to drink windows when they perform beyond their price point. I would be a drinker of this one right now.

Received as a gift (15.5% abv). Opened an hour before serving with Beef Tenderloin. Dark, Clear purplish red on the pour, Dark red fruit and a hint of alcohol on the nose. Raspberry and Blackberry on the palate with characteristic Zinfandel Spiciness. Moderate tannins that I found slightly harsh detracting a bit from the smoothness and round feel in the mouth that I've found in some Zins. Nice finish. Quite a nice Zinfandel, better than most, but I wouldn't consider it my favorite, preferring a little more smooth mouth feel.

Yup, not all that complex, but it's a very good, very jammy zin, but not a fruit bomb. It just hits the right bells for a very drinkable enjoyable wine.

Decanted for 2 hours before trying my first bottle of this wine.
Fruit forward (a bit too much for my taste but hardly problematic) without being sweet. Not much body, but everything else is in balance. Smooth wine, pleasant to drink.
Wouldn’t call it a favorite, but no question that this is a well done wine.

Tasted blind. Dark ruby color. Med (+) to pronounced nose of black fruit, black pepper and sweet baking spices. Dry, but fruit-forward, with med acidity and tannins and high alcohol which is not over the top. Nice rich mouthfeel with med (+) flavor intensity and length, with chocolate and mocha notes. Big but not overdone, this is a solid value.

Good value. Tasty with a lot going on, but does not have the decadent style common with Prisoner wines. Still......I enjoyed it. I have some left for a second night and will update these comments if it is better tonight.
This wine was better on the second night......so, use a big decant.
