Nose is promising on the first sniff, then the herbs and bell pepper take over. The palate is all green with the fruit taking a secondary role. Fresh with slightly grippy tannins. Maybe an off bottle? I usually like the wines from Los Vascos.

One hour decant. This is far more vegetal than I recall it being. Just OK, nothing to write home about. I've had much better bottles - perhaps it needed more air (I've previously given it a 2 hour decant). Then again, it was only 6-8 bucks. ADDENDUM: Ok. Much better after a second hour of air. Give this about two hours. The rating has been adjusted (slightly). ADDENDUM PART 2: Really much better four days later, having been stored in fridge (vacuvin).

Princess Cruises Grapevine Tasting (Ruby Princess): Medium-dark ruby in color. The nose is very earthy, green peppers, jalipenos, black olives with the brine, currents, black peppers, and just a hint of gun smoke. Palate is very green - herbal, green peppers, black currents. Medium acidity and lacking that big cabernet tannin structure I expect from something this youthful. Finish is a bit sweet with black peppers and granite.
Not a huge fan given how green note dominate this wine is.

A nose of some dark fruit and spice, dark garnet in color. A medium to full bodied red, with black cherry, plum, herbs, some spice on finish, a decent value. www.winelx.com

Pyrazines on the nose (however, less bell pepper than the other bottle I’d had 7 or so months ago) that subdue some of the fruit. The palate is much the same as the nose. Initial tasting is without food. Let’s see how it does with some ribeye.

Pale purple color with long quick legs. Blackberry and black cherry aromas. Moderate blend of acidity and tannins and the acidity grows through to the finish while the tannins disappear. The finish is long with acidity increasing to finish and then gently disappearing leaving a slight mouth-watering taste in the mouth. We enjoyed this complex finish. Very smooth. Medium body. James Suckling gave this a 91.

Give this about 2 hours of air. There is little complexity here, but this wine features dark fruits, decent concentration, low acidity, balance and is very food friendly. An incredible value at only 6-8 bucks. If you enjoy new world cabernet (and are not a complete wine snob), this should be in the running for your mid-week house red.

No contemporaneous notes. This everyday red cost me 6 bucks. If decanted and given an hour or more of air, it might merit a score in the low-mid 80s. Given the price, not bad.

As with anything, it depends on what you like. I simply don’t love the green bell pepper notes that come through on the taste. I like fruit flavors, not green vegetables in my wine. The tannins are silky and the acidity is just right. The nose is very promising with dark fruit notes. However, the fruit is very subdued on the palate with vegetal notes taking prominence. I have one more bottle, will wait a bit before I try that one though I doubt it’ll make much of a difference. Tried without food.

Medium ruby color. Sharp nose of unripe red fruits with soft vegetal notes. Dry, soft acidity, mellow tannins, on palate light fresh strawberry and cherry. Light body. Medium finish. Ok balance. Guess New World Cab Sauv 2017. 87(8). RESULT LOS VASCOS 2017(2).

I bought several bottles from the 2015 vintage and thoroughly enjoyed them - new, and with a little cellar age. I lost track of the label and just returned to it - easily a standout among 3 Chilean reds at the table! Great construction.

A rich and quite successful Cabernet from Chile. Good quality to price ratio.

Meh. Sour off taste at first. Light body. Lots of pepper. Gets a little better with time. But not for me.
