I was impressed with this one. Stylistically Dujac has trended more modern the past 15-20 years, and with the way this vintage has lended itself to “heavy” styled reds (and whites), I was expecting some of that here. Instead this is a well balanced and lifted wine, full of red fruits, florals and spices, and surprisingly light on its feet. I’m looking forward to revisiting this (95-96)

A ripe nose of liqueur cherry and sweet earth. There’s good flesh and fruit intensity. It has a creamy feel and decent freshness from moderate acidity.

Dense ripe cherries, minerals, and stems. Not as intense as some other wines from the vintage, but this is long and balanced and sensual. The flavors cover every inch of the palate and keep going for a while. The stems are ripe and impart a darker and deeper character to the fruit. Fantastic and great to drink already. 96+
The 2018 Clos Saint Denis is a clear step-up from the Aux Combottes and Malconsorts. Sophisticated and fragrant array of ripe stems and floral summer bouquet. Violet, densely packed dark berries and silky wood spices. Incredibly expressive and attractive with a beautiful underlying minerality. Charming and more delicate than the Clos de la Roche. Drink from 2026. (91-93/100)

Tasting at Domaine Dujac (Morey St. Denis): My favorite among the 2018s. Expressive aromas of pure candied red cherries, florals, spice and stem. While this has a load of fruit and Grand Cru concentration its weightless and fresh with suave tannin. Balancing tension adds textural complexity. 95-97+ Wow.

Burgundy, Day 3 (Beaune, France): Barrel sample. The pick of the litter for me. This shows a lot more of the solar character of the vintage. The fruit is even more explosive and broad than the Clos de la Roche, and there's just more of... pretty much everything... on this wine. On the palate the breadth of this wine is incredible, and there's just so much material to go on. This is the wine I will be ensuring goes into my cellar.
