Candied strawberry, soap, and tobacco notes upon opening. With air the candy-like elements dissipated while the wine rounded-out. More strawberries in the mouth with sharp acidity. Slightly disjointed with the fruit dominating the earth in a less-than-harmonious way. May wait another year or two for the next one hoping for more balance.

30 months after the prior: Again dark fruit, savory, with a pleasant suggestion of pine needles. Beautifully balanced, with nice backbone acidity. Very enjoyable over three nights.

It’s an interesting wine there is bright fruit, and unripe cherries, cola, strawberries and blueberries, hints of herbal notes, finishes with some acidity. The wine is complex. A-

pale translucent ruby, tawny rim; wild berries, plum, hibiscus, pine needles, hints of spice; tart red fruits, medium length; medium body, medium+ acidity, light dusty tannin, 13.3% ABV; sourced from a blend of sites in the North end of the Anderson Valley; very nice introduction to the range; $45

I felt like tapping in on this young Drew to see how it's showing, and air guitar's review gave me a nudge as well. Fog Eater hasn't always been my favorite of the Drew line-up, but it's never really disappointed me either. It usually shows like the best of what the AV appellation has to offer. This bottle is very floral in its bouquet, and at times soapy. The wine has a softer touch on the mouthfeel and seems less "transparent" than some of the single-vineyard bottlings from Drew, but its drinking very nicely at this stage with the darker-complexioned mountain berries, spice, some hints of oak, and layers of plum with suggestions of warmer, summer-ripened fruit without any of the heat or alcohol imbalance. To date, my favorite Drew wines have been from their Field Selections estate vineyard bottles, and this wine will not change that impression. Regardless, it's an excellent, well-balanced "Fog Eater" that will certainly improve with more aging and probably hold its own over a decade if not two. I really like the complexity that the spices add to the experience.

This reaffirmed my earlier note on this wine. My favorite vintage of this offering to date. A melange of dark and red fruit with a noted spice element. Some floral on the nose and berries punctuate the flavors on the palate. Approachable, soft tannins and round. Very enjoyable!!

Jason Drew continues his strong run of excellent Pinot with this Fog- Eater delivering high on the quality versus price curve. Excellent combination of savory red and dark fruit with a bit of earth and spice foundation. I think this wine is one of the best blends in recent vintages. It showcases the Anderson Valley terroir and potential and remains an underrated offering overall. This vintage offers more complexity and dimension and it shines.

Medium ruby. Savory balsamic notes. Dark fruit, with lovely acid backbone. Elegant. Perfectly in balance — and very enjoyable over three nights.

Very sharp cherry and blackberry notes early on with slight aroma of chili and cloves. Notes of allspice and nutmeg (albeit slight)
