  • Drinking well now. Slow ox-ed for an hour but decant would be better (restaurant had no decanter).

  • Lots of black fruit with a luscious mouthfeel. Excellent balance with a everlasting finish. Cassis, chocolate , black cherry, blackberry and plum. Rich and silky smooth

  • A friend had the “little sister” Mila Cala and liked it a few years ago, which I introduced to them. So now we are visiting them in Atlanta and I thought why not drinking my last bottle of the “big sister”.

Just a short 5 min double decanted amd had it like an hour later with dinner. The wine is a medium to medium plus body, rounded and integrated tannins, smooth and silky, complex and great finish.

I’m happy that our friends Todd and Sharletta enjoyed it and My L and I did too! Good meal and then to finishing the night with a Dave Koz concert!

  • Drank in Grassl Cru.
Appearance is clear, very deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of smoky roasted bell peppers, red capsicums, blackberries, blackcurrant, blac plums. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol (13%), super smooth rounded plush high tannins, very full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of integrated vanilla milk oak, milk chocolate, dark currants, blackcurrant, black plums, blackberries, sweet baking spices. Dense long finish.
Good quality. Ripe and very oaked. Tons of ambition, commendable nice tannins, though overall lacks some finesse. Very clearly New World.
67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, 14% Carmenere and 2% Merlot.

  • Reminiscent of the 2010 - but not as much cooked mulled fruit
Tannins carry the fruit - PnP has a slight over extraction but not much - most likely needs to just open up
Out of the 4 tried(2013 to 2010) this one leaves you wanting more

  • Impressive Chilean red wine.
Tasted with slight airation in excellent glasses.
As nice as this was, I believe that it would show even better with a longer decant or a few more years in the bottle.
Beautiful cassis and leaf character on nose and very well balanced palate.
I would love to try this again in a few years.

  • A bit thin and flat to begin with but transformed into something nice towards the end of a 3 hour dinner. Would not pay the retail but if you can find this at 1/2 retail like I did then it is worth a try.

  • 1.5 hour decant. Deep opaque eggplant color. Big favorable nose and taste of cedar, blackberries, necco wafer and notes of cocoa and vanilla wafers. Super smooth semisweet entry with a touch of ash on the finish. Medium plus body with low to medium tannins and medium acidity. Nice wine. About 93-94.

  • Excellent, bold berry ruby red young wine. Decanted 3 hrs and then drank for 2 hrs. Lots of structure, plenty of tannins and still will develop for more years to come! Tasty and long finish. Suggest another 4-5 yrs and will then try another.

  • Inserted a little air in the morning without pulling out the cork. Then opened at 4pm, decanted from 4:15 to 4:45 and consumed around 8pm. The wine is clear, dark, medium plus, feels like a high quality producer from Napa with the harshness coming from the Cab Franc and Carmenere. It’s in good place right now and should keep on drinking well for years to come!

Full throttled tour de force. May come to better balance with age.

  • A big wine... lots of vanilla with a wonky secondary aroma on the nose. Bell pepper from cab franc? Hmm. I would like to try this in another five years and see how it has developed. At this time the wine still seems unresolved and in an adolescent stage.

  • Big and bigger. Lots of great dark fruits. Picks up that rubber kinky note that Chilean BDX grapes can get. Structure to handle the fruit, maybe lacks a little acid for balance.

  • another Birthday at Vik Chile; 2/3/2020-2/4/2020 (Viña Vik, Millahue, Chile): fully decanted when served with the main course

big wine, but lighter feeling than the 2012 i had before. rich nose with red berries, plums, herbs, vanilla, cedar and related aromas… just as generous in the mouth, feeling fairly full and rounded. layers peel back slowly, complementing and never overwhelming the accompanying food.

quite likely one of the slowest meals i've had in a long time, as i slowly savoured each bite and sip. i asked for more of the wine to go with the chococalatey dessert…

waiter told us this vintage was a slight change of style in the wine, and it did in fact seem that way (more modern and more in line with the later-vintage Milla Callas and Piu Belles we had drunk and would be tasting)
