  • PNP. Cork perfect. Color is dark garnet. Nose is dense w tar and dark dusty fruit. Swishing unloads huge structure w intense acid and even more dense tannin. Sipping though tames the beast, mostly because the fruit is so dense. Finish is balanced between fruit and structure and surprisingly mild given the inherent structure. I think that this is really very good and still very exuberant in its youth. Thanks for sharing mike!

  • Opened this up 4 hours in advance and it needed it. At first it was all chalky tannins and a bit of red fruits and iron. I won't say tar and roses, but lovely light nebbiolo fruit scents eventually came through and the mid palette rounded out nicely. The aftertaste while not strong lingered for 10 seconds or so. Very nice with air time.

  • There's some nice light, fresh red fruits and rhubarb here, and good acidity. The wine is quite structured with a tannic finish. However there is an overwhelming spice/vegetal/pyrazine scent on the nose that i can't put my finger on, it's somewhere between dill, anise, sandalwood and pureed raw broccoli. From one moment to the next i can't decide whether it's mildly pleasant or rather offputting. A couple of days after opening, the aforementioned scent is much less pungent and the wine is easier to enjoy, though still fairly tannic. On days 4 and 5 we are finally in business, a delicious light to medium bodied wine with dark toned sweet nebbiolo fruit, integrated wood spice flavors and chewy but inobtrusive tannins. Clearly, this baby Barbaresco needs time. According to the winery, this wine saw a 12 day maceration with native yeasts, and was fermented and aged for 10 months in French oak barrels. 25% of the barrels were new and 75% had been previously used up to 4 times.

  • Nose is very nice, but not very expressive. some roses, tobacco, cherry, light red fruit.
the acidity is fresh, but just a bit too agressive for the fruit. in the mouth the wine presents some spicyness. again some cherries here, along with nice raspberries. rather typical Nebbiolo.
very nice glass of wine that clearly needs some time to integrate. tannins are firm. clearly a case of structure dominating the stuffing.... still.

    great QPR
