Double decanted and served at cellar temp Bright minerality and sharpness comes through early then the delicate use of oak cuts through to smooth out into a long finish. Lemon peel and crisp Granny Smith acidity
Creamy, medium-plus weight.
Nice amber color

Fireworks on the nose, literally spent fireworks, flint, some lemon and oak (although the representative from the Domaine informed us that only 1/3 of the barrels were new oak in 2018. On point palate, deep and showy fruit. Intense without being over the top. Lovely wine, I kept coming back to it over the course of the evening and it held up really well. My favorite of the whites.

Medium+ intense nose of heavy oak and cream, cinnamon, cedar, lemon zest, almond skin, followed by chalky minerality.
On the palate lemon, wet rocks.
Rich initial mouthfeel, but the mid palate loses intensity a bit. Medium alcohol (13.5%), full body, medium- acidity.
Drinks dangerously easily. Too easily, actually. Really approachable now, but I’m certain the wine will be much better in ten years when more tertiary notes emerge.

Pausing for the Cause 2022 (Chicago, IL): Absolutely impressive wine, this is the first Bonneau I've tried from after the buy-out. Large-scaled aromatics on the nose -- plenty of expensive oak and a hint of reduction. Very ripe, sweet, and fat on the palate, but there is definitely the right amount of material here to hold it all together. One of my favourites tonight.

BdM CC really has improved tremendously in recent vintages! Regal structure and intensity great tension and flinty minerals. Rich and textured palate. Exceptionally fine and long. So young now. Better after a few years.

What is Better Than a By-the-Glass Lunch at Wally's? (Wally's - Beverly Hills CA): From 375 ml bottle, popped-and-poured. Wow, so much more tonight vs a 750 ml bottle from a few months ago. Floral charm and orchard fruit just exploded out the glass with so much more subtle background notes - candied lemon peel, dried apricot, toasted almond, and on and on and on. This was so cohesive and approachable right now, with no signs of warmth at all. Fantastic from this format, and I might expect 750s to be similar from 2023 forward. I sill think this is not a vintage for the long-term cellar, so best 2023-2035.

Corton-Charlemagne and Morey-St-Denis Grand Cru Dinner (Formento's - Chicago IL): Alongside the 2007, this was much more harmonious than I'd ever expect at this stage. Clearly ripe and powerful with Grand Cru density throughout. There is a slight sweetness in the middle, but ends with very balanced, minerally finish that seemed to get longer with more air. Some preferred this over 2007, and it was close, but I preferred the older wine.

Intense and hints of minerality. Wondering if this is best young.

Gorgeous nose but initially was tight on the palate, required a decant but slowly opened up in the glass. Needs more time but will be a fabulous wine.

Weight and power with punchy nose. Upping the ante here versus wines from 10, 15 years ago.

Medium body. Lemon notes. Slightly tightly wound still. Needs more time to balance out but seems like there is upside. I’d give this another 2 years.

Nice minerality and tension for a CC, this will be great. But it needs a few years of time. Still very enjoyable now.

Musique & Vin Pre-Concert Dégustation (Château du Clos de Vougeot): Walk around tasting. This is huge and lush right now, but simultaneously very bright. Plenty of apple and pear to start with lemon notes to follow. So much still in reserve here.
