  • Mild bricking at the rim; nose of dark berries with violets and touch of vanilla; smooth ripe attack with soft midpalate and integrated soft tannins. A lovely soft wine. Drink now

  • classic taste, soft tanine, high alcohol, spicy, dusty, could have been more fruity... guess it should have been drunk earlier

  • Our bottle had quite a lot of barnyard aromas. Taste was rather closed with some dark berries and mild spiciness. There was some depth and complexity to it, but I couldn't quite grasp it.
Did not understand and particularly enjoy this wine.
Certainly should have decanted it for a couple of hours, but didn't have the possibility. (B-)

  • Medium red colour with light red edge and hints of brick. In the nose ripe and sweet fruit - red and dark berries and some stewed plum, some barnyard and other animal notes including blood, hot iron filings, mild spice and some coffee. A warm impression on the nose, which is quite pleasant. Medium bodied, mixed red and dark berries but not too concentrated fruit, noticeably spicy, OK acidity, some tannin, just a hint of bitterness, and a bit "angular" in the aftertaste. The palate isn't as good as the nose, but has come together a little better than when tasted in 2008, when it seemed quite disjointed. This wine has probably peaked.

  • Opened at 4pm, decanted and first tasted at 6pm. Initial impression was one of dissapointment. Very little offered on the nose and quite closed. Vague notes of plums, prunes, figs, leather & tobacco on the nose which became stronger by 10pm. Quite well balanced but I doubt it will improve much with further cellar time.

  • Great nose with hints of tobacco, leather, dry fruit and ripe red berries. Taste is dry and full of delicios red berries with balanced acidity and really smooth tannins. A bit short at first, but after 2-3 hours the wine is more open and quite long. Very nice effort, great wine!

  • Terse, smooth and easy-to-drink Margaux that made our Christmas dinner an absolute highlight! I noticed red currant and tobacco in nose. Long finish in mouth with a pleasant berries aftertaste. Excellent time to drink this second brand from Lascombes!

  • Its perfectly pleasant, well made and nicely balanced, and very approachable. Initially very short on the finish, though it starts to build after an hour or two. If I say it's got a little too much candy fruit, that's just my taste. Inoffensive and easy to like. g

  • Chocolate-covered cherries and coffee, with a noticeable and distracting element of bitter oak (I presume I am supposed to say it will "integrate" but there is nothing harmonious about it). Not very concentrated. Suspiciously absent tannins (which are very fine and make the wine quite approachable now, but suggest little aging potential). Not a bad drink, but certainly nothing notable about it.

  • A little light but good.

  • The qualities of a very good Margaux but just a bit less pronounced and obvious. Elegant perfumed nose and mouth, with that special feeling of red fruits, roasted bread, truffle, coffee, chocolate but just a bit less than what a higher class Margaux would offer you. Still the smoothness and freshness are virtually the same. A good option if you want to have a 15-20€ discount compared with the Margaux Grand crus.

  • 9th Auguest 2008 Family dinner at Peach Garden OCBC centre

13%. Dark Purple. Light nose of chocolate, licorice and ripe berries. Very approachable first touch with low acidity. Margaux like though a much lighter version of its Grand Vin. After an hour in the decanter and my third pour, the finish was more profound with the familiar chocolate box style. Short finish but went extremely well with the wasabi prawns and honey coated spare ribs. A good value second wine of a classified Bordeaux at sub S$50.
