  • Popped and poured. Lovely golden colour. Incredibly fragrant nose of freshly cut grass and grapefruit. Light tropical fruits abound on the palate too, with some lemon and lime. Both of us pegged this as a young Sauvignon Blanc rather than a Chardonnay. Fascinating style, but I’m not sure what it will taste like in a decade.

  • Its not often I review a Chardonnay, but this is a fantastic showing. It has that elegance of a Puligny Montrachet, with the intensity of a California chardonnay that I love. Not by any means a butter bomb, but a very complex chardonnay that would go very well with a spicy pasta dish, chicken, or simply on its own. Drinking well now, another 5-7 years on the lifespan to showcase what I liked in it.

  • Very enjoyable Chardonnay. Pleasant, but not remarkable aromatically, citrus and pear perhaps. Really shines on the palate, bringing a top flight combination of richness and freshness, poached pear and lemon rind. Rounded mid-palate that evolves into a long finish of pure stone fruits and fine texture.

Worth noting this is stainless steel, no oak, no ML, but with lees contact, sub-13% ABV. Maybe it's the lees, but retains freshness without feeling one dimensional.

  • Melville tasting room: Mineral, wheat-straw and lemon oil aromas. Zesty citrus flavors, with notes of melon and florals. Crisp and edgy. Nicely done.
