  • Interesting nose of cigar ash, sour cherries, cooked vegetal notes, wood spices and liquorice. Quite the difference in the taste...ripe berries and spices. Supple, smooth with fine tannins but present...giving an umami sensation. Showing depth and balance, it is long (dark chocolate notes) and juicy...quite savoury. Drinking well and for 2-3 more years I would think.

  • Big wine. Delicious! Dark fruit - blackberries, cassis - and tobacco, spices - cinnamon and cloves. Low - medium acid and very smooth tannins. For me this is not a food wine, but rather something to enjoy on it’s own. I will wait a couple of years before I open the next bottle in the hope that it develops a bit more complexity. But, it is a hope rather than a belief, I should say. Still, very enjoyable and unique wine.

  • This is a great wine. It reminded me of my eye opening experience the first time I tried Clos Apalta 10 years ago.

This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere and Syrah.
Decanted 2 hours and was perfect. At the 1-1.5 hour mark the wine was still slightly muted.

Colour: Dark ruby, not opaque, light fading towards the rim and the smallest hint of browning at the very edge.

Nose: Baked plum, cassis, blackberries, blueberries, lead pencil, tar, olive, light quince, celery, black truffle, forest floor, dried leaves, light smoke.

On the palate this wine truly sings. Multiple layers of intense flavor the coat the palate in waves, not just on the initial sip. Round velvet tannins coat the whole palate, medium acidity, still has a tannic grip that is not very intense at this point but still evident -to me a sign it should be aged for a little longer. Sweet cherry, black pepper, leather, slight dark chocolate, prune, blueberry, more plum, licorice, light vanilla cream from a completely harmonious oak integration that does not stick out of balance in any from. Long, long finish with about 30-40 seconds of high intensity flavour and a gradual degradation which lasts over 5 minutes. I checked with a timer. The quality is outstanding.

What a great surprise, I will definitely seek to buy more and probably open the next bottle in 3 years. Drink now with about a 2 hour decant and over the next 15 years. 94-95 points

  • This wine is becoming a new favorite. Similar to the ‘13 vintage but still a bit closed. Decanted 1 hour. Could go longer with patience!
Dark berries, spices, forest floor with a prominent mineral backbone. Dusty tannins and a subtle chalky black raspberry note lingers on the finish that goes on for over a minute. Stellar wine.

  • a Birthday at Vik Chile; 11/3/2019-11/4/2019 (Viña Vik, Millahue, Chile): Served with a main at lunch; previously decanted.

Deep purplish ruby colour. The Carmenere becomes evident in the nose as blue- and blackberry notes waft from the glass with hints of lavender, graphite, savoury herbs, and plums. It continues in the mouth giving the wine a different energy than the Milla Calla or Vik… full-bodied and juicy feeling, with fairly polished tannins. Long finish that at once keeps you from, and urges you to take the next sip.

Very drinkable in its youth. Curious how well and how long it can age.

    Blend is 53%CS, 33% Carmenere, 14% Syrah.
