excellent wine. fruit to the brim, no concessions there. almost sweet, but it isn't, its just the fruit. lots of strawberry, red berries. a bit of oakiness but not too much. medium body, soft tannins, medium finish. quite drinkable. good buy if you have it. recommend.

Saturday calls for a nice southern Rhone wine, Gigondas to be exact. Pop and Pour is full of game aromas with lots of red fruits like cranberry, strawberry, and cherry with hints of perfume, dried herbs, (ketchup? 😳😅), and black pepper.
With some decanting everything becomes subtle. The game aromas follow the palate along with the perfume, dried herbs, and red fruits. But No ketchup on the tongue 😜 thank God.
Mostly low tannins with low acidity. The 15% abv is really subtle until it isn't. 😅

Drinking pretty well this young, all things considered. Violet petals, anise, black licorce, raspberry pie and blueberry pie on the nose. Fresher fruit on the palate - certainly not "pie like" - call them ripe raspberries and blueberries as well as notes of anise and garrigue. The garrigue is especially intense on the finish.
Medium + body, surprisingly medium + acid, medium tannin and a nice long finish that ups the garrigue note to 11. To my palate, this is a very nice Gigondas; but the "pie" notes on the nose are just too much for me.
You can absolutely drink this now; but you can also cellar it for 2-5 more years.

Clear medium ruby; clean medium nose of confected red cherries, baking spices and garrigue; dry; medium plus acidity; medium plus tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; medium plus flavour intensity; palate is tarter with addition of black licorice and cocoa; long finish; drink now; disappointing given the price point - wished for less confected notes; big jammy wine

Juicy and exuberant brambly, peppery dark red fruit. A good, complex pop n' pour that drinks well immediately but will improve with mid-term cellaring. Was an outstanding choice for a spicy Malaysian beef curry.

Super Rhone Saturday 2017 (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Rich, concentrated, savoury red berry and bramble with peppery spice. Juicy, savoury, very slightly meaty notes accompany peppery fruit, broad but without massive grippy tannins. Hmm.

Eðalklúbbur, vínsmakk #3 vor 2022 (Marbakkabraut 12): Frekar dökkt á litinn. Ekki mikill ilmur en þægilegur. Dökkir ávextir áberandi. Á tungunni mátti líka finna dökka ávexti. Mjög þægilegt vín í góðu jafnvægi. Gæti líklega batnað næstu 2-3 ár.

In the deep purple, precious stone hardness, schist-driven, clean, and piercing style. Expansive, generous, and satisfying. The only negative, is the listed 15 abv, which the substance masks quite well. Drink or hold over the next five to seven years. Fuller and more complete on the second day. Everything one would hope for in Gigondas. Improvement is likely. 92-93.

Full body, fruity and a long aftertaste. A bit oaky. Very enjoyable on the second day. Still very primary

pretty underwhelming, some enjoyable red fruit notes and earthy notes, but overly acidic finish

Sweet black fruit on both nose and palate. Good Rhone typicity. Big wine.

Needs another 5 years. Not nearly as evolved as the 2016, but a promising wine.
