Palate: blackberry, vanilla; long+ finish of baking spice, light scorched earth, dried herbs; dry; medium body; medium to medium+ acidity; medium very fine tannins
Overall thoughts: Simple and not what I expect from Syrah, even a warm climate one. That being said, it was tasty, balanced, and had great tannins. Pretty great wine.

Short decant. Ruby purple with nose of violets and ripe black fruits. Blackberries, plum, vanilla and black pepper. Concentrated, rich and full bodied. Balanced. Fine grained tannins and a long, long finish.

Decanted for a couple of hours then consumed over two evenings along side a 2017 Saxum Booker Vyd. Both wines have averaged just over 94 points to CT tasters. On night one, Saxum Booker was the clear favorite with a beautiful bouquet, smooth delivery, and expansive flavors. Both bottles displayed a little heat, but the Akasha also appeared a little disjointed and drowsy. Night two was a different story. There was no evident heat, both bottles showed well with the Akasha fleshier and more in control than the previous night. That, combined with a slight loss of energy from the Saxum resulted in a dead heat for this taster. Interesting.
1hr decant. This is a big wine and I think another 3-5 years will settle things down a bit. Black cherry, blackberry, cinnamon, cassis touch of eucalyptus. Full bodied, long finish. Enjoy now with a decant or hold.

Brought by Mdogs to our first tasting together. Slow ox'd most of the afternoon. Poured into a decanter and enjoyed over another 3 hours. This took about an hour in the decanter to open more fully. This is a very smooth animal. Seamless, comes to mind. The fruit is very high quality dark red/black berries. Just a hint of bacon fat on decanting but that strengthens over 3 hours though still less than most fully bacon saturated Wash St. Syrahs. A very nice wine that drinks almost cab like to start. Probably another point or two in there with aging. Thanks for sharing Mdog!
Purple with a candy red edge. Blackberry and smoke nose. Maybe a bit of tobacco and red fruit also. Full bodied, bold tannins and medium-high acidity. Spicy palate with pepper, smoke, dark fruit. Nice acidic finish. Really solid. 93 pts
