  • Dark purple almost black. Just pulled the cork 90 minutes before dinner & no decant. Very concentrated & extracted. Almost like a good Cornas. Falls a bit short as it is more one dimensional without flavor layers. But for $30 excellent QPR. It is worth buying more of an excellent for dinners where you don’t want a more expensive bottle.

  • Decanted one hour. Drier than West Texas. Not a hint of sweetness. Newbies will most likely not like this wine. A bit one dimensional. Probably a wine to have only with food. I probably wouldn’t open this to drink by itself. Nice Syrah flavors although not a lot of depth or structure. Still a very good QPR.

  • Deep ruby. Medium nose - strawberry, blueberry, prune, mushroom, black pepper, forest floor. Youthful. Dry, medium plus acid, medium plus tannin, medium alcohol, medium plus body. Medium plus intensity - black cherry, black plum, blackberry, coffee. Long finish. Drink now, has potential for aging.

  • Decanted one hour. Nice extraction and flavor layers for an inexpensive but flavorful wine. Easy to drink.

  • Informal notes on phone -

Nose - Decant 1 hour. Blackberry and plum. Maybe a touch of olive? Some sort of funk but it is pleasant.
Palate - Very silky mouthfeel with fine grained tannins. Dark berries. Medium acidity. Long dark berry finish with a little tartness.
Overall - Not overly complex. A decent anytime drinker but far from what the higher end Jaboulet can offer.

  • Plum and leather with a slight meaty, smoky note on the nose. Chocolate and espresso dominate the somewhat weak cherry notes. Medium tannin. Medium acid. Overall, one dimensional, lacking discernible fruit.

  • I’m confused as to why people don’t like this for $25 there are way worse wines out there…..

SIGHT: medium vibrant purple color light
    Medium staining

NOSE: The fruit is very pure and warm on the nose quite lovely honestly. Typical big fresh very cherry, red licorice, perfumed blackberry almost a touch of lilac. That very slight smoky/meatyness is underneath alongside spice and a defined Nose of Soil/dirt with a little funk that others are calling leather understandably.

PALATE: served at the proper temperature the wine perfomed much better and after a 5 hour decant. The wine does not match the nose in its endearment. Light on his feet but medium-bodied quite good acid as well. Solid concentration the fruit is pure ripe dark cherry spice and that soil/dirt funk on the nose is defined in the finish of the wine with medium length. Tannins are lovely as expected for Syrah of this level this is ready now to please and enjoy with or without food.

OVERALL: my only qualm with this wine is that it has a slight bitterness going into the finish and if it wasn’t for that this would be an easy 90 points. The wine being slightly chilled & decanted for five hours also made a huge difference in its performance. This is clearly old World it’s earthy it’s northern Rhône Syrah just lacks a little bit of depth and wish that sweet endearing nose matched the pallet.

14% Alkohol.
