Too cold at first. Needed to warm a bit to open. Seemed light but added body as it warmed. Medium weight and texture. Primary impression is crisp lemon and chalk with a nutty backdrop. Faded a bit on the finish.

Deeper golden hue than usual in NZ Chardy. 'Regional' bottling, but actually a Single vineyard, 12m in oak (20% new).
N: Exotic, riper style, cooked tart peaches in butter. Mango, fresh lemon curd, golden apple, honey. Still fresh and not OTT.
P: Fresh green apple, ripe golden apple, honeysuckle, dried orange peel (tart marmalade?), Buttered apricot. Brilliant contrast to a grippy, linear texture & structure. Only med acid, but grip helps. Don't drink too cold.
F: Fresh, vanilla bean, lemon curd.

Complex NZ Chardonnay, from one of its best producers. Organic, 18m in mainly used oak, from a single site. On the tree fruit and floral side, with phenolic grip.
I really admire Pyramid Valley. Their chardonnay's really are outstanding. While this doesn't climb the heights of Field of Fire or Lion's Truth, it is impressive in its own right and great value.

See previous notes. Waxy, lemon, bitter almonds and flint. Would prefer a little less body/weight or a a little more acidity.

Medium yellow. Lemon, smoke, hazelnuts and minerality. Medium acid with some discernible heat. Medium plus finish. Drank over the course of 3 nights.

Complex NZ Chardonnay, from one of its best producers. Organic, 18m in mainly used oak, from a single site. On the tree fruit and floral side, with phenolic grip.
N: Yellow flowers, yellow apple skin, dried apricot, dried peach, phenolic. Vanilla pots.
P: Intense, bitterness, floral, yellow apple and tree fruit. Grippy, taught, mouth puckering texture, but mellow med- acidity (want more). Subtle toast.
F: Dense custard, green apple skin

Really enjoyed this Chardonnay with a baked fish. Well balanced oak. Really delightful.
