  • The bottle tonight was in an in-between or dull phase, so I would recommend holding for another few years at least.

  • Gorgeous Cornas from Vincent Paris which is just slowly shedding its baby fat.
The bouquet starts with dark fruit of blackberries, olive tapenade, blueberries and a slight whiff of white pepper.
The palate convinces with powerful but refined tannins and a long finish.
I would wait at least another 5 years, before opening another bottle, but its nice to try this wine in its primary phase.

  • It's a deep and correct syrah. But there is an even more interesting dynamic happening for those who care to dig deeper.

At first sniff or taste, you say "classic Northern Rhone". But then, for instance, on the nose, when I get right-hard in the glass and really sniff, I get this medicinal red fruit that reminds me more of a northern Italian red. It's not ragged or overly acidic, but it gives a hint of why critics have used the descriptor "rustic" with Cornas.

The palate is polished black fruit -- initially. Then it sticks to your tongue in that tannic way of a more laissez-faire provincial high alcohol Euro wine.

I can't say for sure, but my guess is that the winemaking is acting as a respectable bridge between the old ways and the new ways.

    This effect is tremendously pleasing.

I'm not trying to say this is an early drinking wine. I am in many ways a masochist and a serial infanticider.

But no one will feel sad they have this in their cellar.

  • Decanted and served.
Youthful, almost too young for its style and didn't help it that it followed in the wake of some great American beats that were rich and bold so that it did not shine like it could have. Also We like this style of wine a bit older like 10yrs of bottle age to help it develop more of it character. Very elegant and well made wine and for sure with a great future just arrived at the wrong point and more importantly needs time in the cellar, for our palate that is. Felt like a 92 at this stage.

  • Gorgeous nose of blueberry, black olive tapenade, and thyme with a hint of some sort of charcuterie. The palate is an intense succession of blueberry preserves and youthful tannins. The finish is quite long, although at this young age has prominent tannin on it. This is a classic Cornas and is excellent at this price point. It is also drinking surprisingly well for how young it is, although it will doubtless improve with age. Will wait at least 3-5 years before my next bottle.

  • Double decanted + 2 hours of air.

Black purple. Tyme, mushroom, olives and granite. Soft. Black fruit, meat, asian spice, light smoke. Hold forever.

  • Tasted over three days - and for now a wee bit leaner the 60, but still a great wine in the making. This is archtypical cornas, blood and stone, olives and black fruit. If I had a case I would wait 5-10 years before trying again. 93+

  • Opens up with a nose of violets, menthol and small dark berries. There’s a wall of juicy fruit on the palate, ripe but fresh, hints of bacon fat, smoke and iron. Silky tannins. Stains the teeth with a lovely purple color. Way, way too young. Wait at least 5 years for next hit. Very hard, for me, to judge such a young wine, but there’s is outstanding material here.

  • The nose is all menthol, black olive and dark plum. It has good flesh and is deep and surly. There are notes of ironstone and tannins are chewy. It possesses good balance and is quite tasty now, but needs some serious cellar time.
