On the downslope, though still quite enjoyable. There's still some dusty red fruit here with savoury iron and leathery notes on the palate, but it fades with a lot of air and eventually starts to take on black tea and somewhat oxidized notes.

Dinner at Villa Tiboldi, Roero. The nose is a mixture of bad oysters, wet cellar, cork, and Nebbiolo mixed with dish water. Not very inviting, but I had to have a sip or two to find out and yes, this was dead and gone, Just dead fruit and acidity/ bad vinegar left in the bottle. Sad, but these things unfortunately happens. FLAW

Another dissapointment, this one tasted slightly older than the 89 and 99 but not even close to the other Barolo's and Barbaresco's from the 70's and 80's tased along side it. This idea of releasing Library wines that are decanted at the winery is a joke. Feel totally ripped off with this stuff. The wine is fine but if you are looking for old Barolo, this ain't it.

Decanted by the winery in 2005 this wine was very light in color but had the classic Barolo "Brick" color. The body was a bit thin and noticeable metallic taste. There were nice notes of Schorched earth, strawberry, cherries, and Black Licorice. The Finish was not as long as I hoped probally due to the age. This wine was still good but may have been a just a few years past its prime. I would recommend going with the '97 or '98 vintage for 1/3 the cost. - JD 90-92

A good barolo, but not inspiring. Overpriced for what it was. Had in Tokyo with "Italian" food. Light, cloudy and tastey, but without intrigue.
