This wine was a pleasant surprise! It paired effortlessly with dinner. It has an appealing aroma of sweet black fruit, oak, and raspberries. The tannins are firm, giving it a well-rounded character. There isn't much more to say! It's a bottle that would be great for almost any social gathering.

I decanted and strained my wine, lots of sediment in this bottle. The 2018 Robert Craig Affinity is way too young to drink. This wine is savory, but has an undercurrent of fruit that is waiting to emerge. I'd sit on it for at least five years before tasting again. Is it worth $60 a bottle? Probably.

Pours dark magenta in glass with a cranberry and black cherry nose. Palette is similar red fruited notes with a lushness about it. Medium to fuller body and a medium finish. Punches above its weight class. It reminds me very much of Rivers Marie NV cab.

First sampling of this wine, pop and pour. Black cherry and faint aged oak on the nose. Medium light weight, this is fruit dominant; while I'd like to see more oak this is an easy drinker that'd go well w poultry or even fish to be enjoyed over the next 2-3 years.

This follows the enormous Jessup Cabernet Table for four 14'. Could not quite keep up as this is slightly more elegant (lighter in viscosity) not as round and frankly inferior. Beautifully made but not the right order for tasting.

Just a terrific Cabernet blend, mostly from Coombsville AVA. Strong opulent fruit, but never overbearing or highly extracted. Leathery body with tobacco and cassis prominent to the dark fruit (blackberry mostly). Medium plus tannins were grippy but the finish was smooth after an hour decant.
Robert Craig just makes great Cabernets, from the mountain AVAs to the foothills of Coombsville.

First red wine is the 2018 Affinity, which fruit comes from Coombsville. Medium to deep ruby red. Inviting nose with fleshy black plums, vanilla beans and mixed baking spices. Well balanced acidity, medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and a medium to medium plus body. Crushed gravel on the palate with blackberries and cherries. Long finish. Drink till 2029.

Purple-red clarity. Raspberries, leather and spices. Lots of tannin but a beautiful wine.
