Hasn't changed since last time three years ago. Great northern rhone with medium body and soft tannins. Nose of a small cornas. Old school 12% alcohol, lovely and easygoing!

This is a 2007 (says on the cork). Just great now! 100% typicity, you would place this in northern Rhone in any blind tasting. Grapes come from young vines in Cornas and also outside the commune itself, 100% Syrah. Classic meat, bacon, smoke and dark berries. Lots of tertiary aromas, good sweetness and full bodied. Clape is a great winemaker!

(from memory) Medium red, dried raspberries, must, plum and pepper on the nose, palate was salty, austere and off putting with green and earthy flavors mixed with cherry powder and seaweed, finish stings the senses

Ruby red, dark, earth on the nose, good dark fruits. A little short aftertaste, but very good value this fine wine. It opend up a little in the glass after 1 hour, more komplex, more soft tannins. I like it.

(12.5% vol) No formal notes. I realised that for my taste this is a great wine for cooler weather. I actually decided to serve this with the traditional, Danish pork-roast for X-mas dinner (Dec 24). I thought that the prunes on the nose and palate matched the dish very well. Drinking the remnants of the bottle today (had been stored in the fridge), I do think that it has gained even more complexity while still preserving its jovial character. Note--The vintage is note included on the wines sold in Denmark but the wine merchant was able to tell me this information.

Absolutely gorgeous and an amazing value -- loaded with peppery molten tarry cherry and creosote, lighter on the palate but a great food wine, changing with each course, from peppery to minerally.

nose - dark fruit, minerals, olive, a hint of licorice. dark fruit, black pepper, and leather? on palate silky. olives linger on the tanic finish. great at this price point. will buy again in quantity.

Dinner at John's -- great value Clape -- dark and viscous, loaded with smoky peppery fresh fruit. Lighter on the palate, but a great food wine and Clape pedigree.

Great to get a Clape below $20 (even tho this is a "table wine", hehe)... Much better than a standard VDT, silky and inky dark, oozing with fruit and licorice on the nose. More restrained on the palate and even "simple" seeming there, but a good value in these crazy wine price days.

More expressive on the nose than I was expecting - notes of black olive tapenade, pepper, shoe polish, charcoal and dark fruit. On the palate, more of the same, with better than expected (based on the nose) balance. Lingering pepper and charcoal flavors on the finish. I like this quite a bit, but it won't be for everyone. IMO, better than the '03, '04 or '05 (see TNs), but the price has gone up, too... $25 retail, before discount. Awesome as always--fresh, clean and bright. Amazingly complex for a VDT, but this is Clape after all!

2007 France Trip - Hauts Chassis, Duclaux, Dumaine, Clape (Northern Rhone): Foudre sample. Nicely perfumed nose. Rubber, dark fruit, and light spice. Rustic on the finish. Not bad for a VDT.
