Lunch at Asia Grand (Odean Towers, Singapore): I actually thought this was really decent. Like chalk and cheese when compared with the Chablis Grand Cru, but this was a very drinkable new world Chard, with plenty of Calfornian fruit, but also balanced with some elegance. Nose was clearly oaked, with butter, cream and popcorm overlaid over sweet white fruit and melons with a tropical twist. Palate was oily, buttery and rich, yet with just enough acidity to keep it from being flabby. Lots of fat yellow fruit, peachy tones, sweet melons spiked with just a little disctrating bit of alcohol. Finish even had a nice does of slatey mineral with time. Pretty enjoyable, with the oak and fat pretty much under control.

A well rounded chardonnay from a wonderful winery in Sonoma. The nose is ripe fruit, citrus, melon, pears. The flavor is a sharp sweet fruit that tastes fresh and tangy on the tongue. The finish is subtle dry with no tannin and slight acid. 90, good but needs another layer.

This was a time when I was looking for a big buttery Chardonnay and didn't quite get it. The wine was served with Alaskan king crab legs with drawn butter in a white wine sauce and I was looking for a nice buttery Chardonnay to go with it but in this case the wine fell just a little short in the buttery department. Of course, that didn't make the wine itself unappealing as it still showed a good amount of acidity mixed with toasted oak and tropical fruit flavors. I was surprised that the color was as light as it was compared to other Chardonnay. There is a slight bit of creaminess on the finish but it is not overly buttery as others have described.

Can I have a vanilla milk shake on my buttered toast please. This would be a favorite in my families house in 1988. It's made in that style and is a must buy for people who like the over oaked, 100% Malolactic style that California Chardonnay can bring. I don't get the Peach. I do get some citrus and a little bit of Gravenstein Apple underneath it all.13.5% EtOH / $19.99

Nose: vanilla, banana, caramel. Taste: Good acidity, quite fresh mouthfeel. Some apple, citrus. Quite elegant for a California Chardonnay. Secondary oak flavors of vanilla and banana still dominate a bit. Good now, but with potential. I believe the oak will integrate well in ~2 years. Very food friendly - 88points

Pale yellow color with notes of apple, almond and toasted oak. Pear and apple flavors, with a touch of citrus coming through on the finish. Very nice. $24/$18. 89+ pts.

Decent chardonnay, but nothing special. I was ok with the amount of oak.

Style & Quality: B. buttery and a little flabby. too much oak. suppresses most of the fruit. typical cali chard, does not distinguish itself.
Value: C+. Overpriced. Definitely paying for the oak.
Overall: B-.

Not much flavor covered with oak. Pretty mediocre California Chardonnay. Expected more from Clos du Val.
