  • Interesting to learn that Ursules was Jadot’s first parcel. Too bad wine it’s still sleeping now and everything rather restrained and tight now. Not surprising for 2019 vintage it would seem.

Pale ruby in glass. Hints of complexity that took some time to release (and never totally did). Strawberry, cherry, hints of mushroom. Plenty of red fruit. Later violets and more strawberries and slightly more floral.
Balance lacking on palate with restrained fruit overshadowed by alcohol.
Wine has good acidity, good concentration. I would hold a couple of years before trying again.

  • Opened last night, this is finally coming around. On the black fruit side, this is filled with black cherry fruit in the nose. Pomegranate palate. Starting to show some real character it hasn't really revealed on previous occasions. Certainly could use more time, but with airing or a good decant, it is approachable. Color is translucent, no sign of age on the rim. Long life ahead. 5-12-16-9: 92/100.

  • Hallelujah. I have long Covid and one of the lingering symptoms is that about 3 out of every 4 pinot noirs have been undrinkable (the taste is something like nail polish and VA for me). So I stopped trying for about nine months. This was outstanding to me - I can't score it because about 90% of my experience was just sheer relief, but the rest was gawping. This is Burgundy? It's very powerful without being obnoxious, not meaty and not ethereal, just full-on flavorful and an all-senses experience. Terrific, and is going to last longer than I will.

  • Opened last night and drunk mostly the next day. I feel like WS really overrated this wine. Only once has my rating come close to theirs. Maybe the wine is just too young, but I'm really not sensing a lot here that I feel will be transformative. The nose is for me its best feature, and hints at better things to come, but this still is not as impressive as I was hoping it would be at this stage. In other words, similar to most of my experiences with this wine. 5-12-15-8: 90/100.

  • Opened to see if my long Covid has receded enough for me to taste pinot again. Nope. My wife said it was great. Oh well.

  • Only difference to last time is that I could taste it on day3 from a 2/3 full bottle kept cool.
No trace of oxidation, in the nose wonderful raspberry notes, besides that same profile. Tannins better integrated after 3 days, on opening slightly coarse. Good length.
Love it, for me the ideal mid/upper range Burgundy with vg Qpr.

  • Opened last night. Very dark ruby but still translucent. Excellent viscosity, though. For the first time in memory, the nose on this is starting to emerge in a big way. Black cherry, bergamot. Beginning to open in the mouth as well, though not quite as much. Good wine, should only get better and better. 5-13-16-9: 93/100.

  • Ripe black cherry, dried apple, balancing acid and medium+ tannic grip, bit of that briary garrigue. A few rough edges this young, but very tasty and should age well. 92-94 range for me.

  • beautiful, bright red fruit, not a lot of complexity but of course this wine is super young, nice acidity for balance... nice now but hoping for evolution to add 1-2 pts over the next 10-12 years... super pumped I have 10 more

  • Alluring aromas of cherry pie and overripe plums balanced with florals and some sous bois. (Past an hour, and floral scents begin to dominate). Palate echoes adding some spice and highlighting more of a brighter, fresher cherry vs. the nose. Mouthfeel has considerable finesse, but is still held in check by considerable tannic structure; not overshadowed for certain, and definitely approachable now. The finish is big with considerable length. Overall, this is supremely balanced and thoroughly enjoyable. 93-94 now with the framework to hold and gain complexity over time. *1er Cru Clos des Ursules is technically a portion of 1er Cru Vignes-Franches, and was purchased by Louis Henry Denis Jadot from the Ursuline nuns at the Convent of St. Ursula in 1826. (Maison Louis Jadot wasn't founded until 1859). *Clos des Ursules Hautes (1.26 hectares) planted in 1963 and Clos des Ursules Bas (0.88 hectares) planted in 1975. *"Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot" at the bottom of the label indicates that the property/vines are still owned by the heirs of Louis Jadot and not by the negotiant business that was sold to the American distribution company, Kobrand, in 1985.

  • Really delicious but awfully primary. So hard to keep one's hands off of the .375s. I liked the singing spice notes and warm brick fruit tones that resonate with the last few sips. Still a bit lactic and in need of bottle time. Alcohol a touch showy but I enjoyed this and think it has fine potential.

  • Opened for about five hours now, after arriving from the East Coast. Very young, but showing great promise even with whatever bottle shock may exist. Beautiful ruby-magenta, translucent. Very pretty nose with mostly floral aromas, crushed roses. Excellent in the mouth, grows and grows after entry, concentrated, with staying power on the finish. Surprisingly approachable even now. Just bought a case of this, and I am glad I did. Probably one of the best red Burgs out there for the money given the excellent quality, and I see this getting better and better as it matures. 4-13-17-9: 93/100.

  • Fabulous showing for this wine, drinking really well within 30 minutes of opening the bottle. Color is paler than expected and it's no heavyweight, but remarkable freshness and sappiness of fruit - very red fruited but ripe enough to deliver density and power as well.

  • infanticide of course, but had to try one before putting the rest in the wine storage... I've learned you often can't judge a wine at this stage but I did think this was enticing... it isn't all fruit -- but noticeable red fruit , it has a good level (ie reasonably high) of acidity for aging, and the secondary stuff was like food / umami rather than soil or wood... promising -- I think yes, 93-94 pt potential is my guess at this point

  • Rich and red to black fruited. Translucent in the glass with open aromas. Pretty primary fruit flavors, even a little hint of cola, without the grapey purple features of 2018. I liked it a lot. A 2015 on steroids

  • Agree with previous notes. For such a young burgundy the tannins are silky smooth and well-integrated. May need to buy more of this

  • Deep transparent red.
Nose redfruited with blue notes and a shimmer of toasty wood on top.
Structured very harmonious palate with healthy acid and fine tannins.
    Delicious and very Burgundy like.
2 btl a week between Pnp over hrs.

  • Fabulous and very interested to see how other bottles evolve. Ripe red fruit at first, then blackberry creeping in with time. Lush and soft on the palate. Some structure and a bit of mineral/earthiness on midpalate. Delicious.

  • Lovely. Cherry, raspberry, and a touch of plum transition to bergamot and potpourri.

  • From half-bottle. Simply outstanding young Burgundy. This is incredibly fruit-forward and juicy and outstandingly easy to drink for a site that is renowned for its longevity. A little hint of orange peel, but mostly this is a mix of ripe red and tart black fruit, which is to say this is very nicely balanced. Underneath all of this fruit is some serious structure. It reminds me a little bit of 2015 N Rhone, where all the structure was initially hidden by the fruit. I opened this as a bit of a vintage assessment, but if a few more samples from this vintage are anything like this, I'm going to go long.

  • From a 750ml barrel sample that was shipped to the US from Jadot. A powerful mix of cherry and berry. Fresh cut floral, mostly purple with some red mixed in too. Concentrated fruit on the palate with great textures all throughout. Lots of energy and depth to the wine. A mineral backbone and the minerality really pops on the finish.

  • Dense and tight with deeply pitched fruit. I suspect there is plenty of wine here when its ready to come out and play. The finish is grippy.
