Very Good- I liked this wine, thinking it was a solid Rosso friendly at the table. Nice cherry, this is smooth and easy drinking without much in the way of earth or herb and such. It was the wine I was happy to have with the (ad hoc recipe pasta with a cream sauce made with leftover diced ham, diced tomato and puree, and Boursin garlic and herb cheese).

Polished and pretty, typical Montalcino crushed cherry, creamy oak not fully integrated, sour-astringent tannins kick in late midpalate, not much finish.

This is very expressive from the get go. Some nice herb and leather notes with red berry and plum notes quickly coming to the forefront. Fine and silky texture this is surprisingly open and just flat out delicious. Nice acid and a bit of structure hold everything in place for a solid finish. This is a great RDM for the price and one to drink over the next several years.

Juicy, polished, sweet. Display well after being poured just ten-minutes in the glass. Yes it’s a bit anonymous. But it’s a good example of a kind. You can still associate to Montalcino.

Wonderful, deep flavors, full of black cherry/blackberry. The flavor profile is broad, deep, and delicious. There is a bit of tanni c structure, but not enough to detract from the delicious fresh fruit. I would drink this one over the next 5 to 7 years, maximum

Popped and poured. Medium garnet color; red fruit nose. A bit tight, as might be expected at this stage of development, but this one shows it’s pedigree right out of the gate. Tons of intense fruit up front. Blackberry, boysenberry and gobs of currant undergird the mid-palate with a dark integrated under-current. Plenty of tannins are present, suggesting that it might benefit from another 3-4 years of bottle age. This is is an outstanding effort and an outstanding QPR. Highly recommended!

From the coravin. Chewy tanins and bright red fruit. A bit of alcohol heat. I have to either age these a few years (kinda surprising for a Rosso) or decant them. This wine is never going to compare to the Brunello or even the Rapace from the same producer, but the QPR is outstanding at $20. bold flavored foods soften the wine quite a bit.

Hmm, my first Uccelliera, but I have to say that I agree with previous commenters that say this is modern and a bit anonymous. There's good balance, nice acid, and quality fruit to be sure, but you have to look for it under the gob of glossy oak smeared all over. Maybe it'll integrate in a year or two, but right now it tastes as much like new world Pinot as it does sangiovese.

A two hour decant did this wonders, as it was initially somewhat austere and transformed into a richer, warmly fruited rosso. Found this sub-$20 at Vin Chicago and it is very solid for that price.

Rather hot and unbalanced to me, almost new-world like with the cherry cola note on the nose. The firm tannins placed us back in Italy but otherwise a forgettable wine other than the bad headache it caused me with the presumably high alcohol content.

Interesting nose of red cherry, rosemary, some cooked fruit character, quite rustic. Rusticity also reflected on the palate. Medium body, medium tannin, medium + acid. Heat comes through on the finish which makes the whole package feel a little disjointed and not sure this will resolve in time. Not bad though.

Under cork, of course (sigh). Note made 48 hours after opening and decanting.
Colour is medium garnet with good intensity to rim.
Nose is still quite tight, but as the colour suggests, there are some fairly potent aromas of red fruits, maybe even cherry, a hint of kirsch and dried herbs.
Palate is intense and the finish is long. Spices, cherry, a hint of smoke and those red fruits again. Fine tannins, plenty of them and finishing with fresh acid.
Right now, for mine, this is way too young to really enjoy. Paired with fatty meats like duck or lamb might be best, but I suspect this could blossom with another 5 -10 years into something quite wonderful.

Maybe slightly better a year later. Tannins are more resolved. Bright red fruit. Light body. A beautiful example of a Rosso.

This wine really comes alive after 2-3 hours in the decanter. Very enjoyable Rosso, expect this to drink well for the next 3-5 years.
