  • Three hour decant. Very very deep magenta color (much lighter than typical Napa CS, so no mega purple added). Black cherry, dark raspberry jam on buttered pumpernickel toast, marshmallow root, baker’s chocolate, and subtle tangerine rind. Dry, spicy, citrusy palate. The acidity is very fine, with a long linger. Firm, lower intensity tannins on the longish finish.

This is my first ever Schrader. It’s youthful, but simultaneously polished/refined. It will certainly improve, but I understand JD’s noting that it lacks a “wow factor” that I’d expect at this price point. With that said, there’s no doubt it’s a more expensive Cab.

  • Decanted 6 hours. Still evolving after 8 hours. Perfume bursts from the glass. Very fruit forward, displays all the complex and delicate characteristics of the terroir. Goes great with steak or cheese.
