Opened up really quickly. Like 15 minutes it was so good. And then opened up more. Dark fruit. Lingering finish that opens up more then goes on and on. Finish is the stronger of the beginning, mid and finish, but all good. Fruit is not huge but enjoyable.

One of the best Bedrock wines I've had. (that's saying a lot) good mouthfeel, rich, balanced, delicious. Carlilse also makes a great zin from this field.

Maybe an ackward stage. Fruit not really there. Hood with food. Has the structure you want. Younger or older? Have no choice, holding the rest for a few more years. Should develop more.

This is a tasty blend of Zinfandel and assorted other “black grapes” from a single block of a single vineyard. Ripe and ready to drink. Blackberries, raspberries, currants intermixed with leather, mint, and spice. Well balanced, nice acidity, good length. Not overly complex. Great with robust Italian food.

PnP. Big nose of blackberry pie and oak. Complex and dense palate rushes across the tongue with blueberry, blackberry, currant, notes of bacon, mint, dried thyme, and minerals. Finishes brings plush tannins with boysenberry, black raspberry, and baking spice... lingering long. Impressive now and with stuffing and acidity to develop. 93+ points

Papera Ranch is one of my favorite sites for Zinfandel as it allows for such an explosion of fruit with acidity and structure.
This particular one didn't hit that mark for us. Still a nice drink (90-91 points) with raspberry, cranberry, and savory herbs. An interesting trend in Zins has been the pendulum swinging away from the ripe, opulent fruit to more structured and lean. IMO, this one has swung a touch too far for my taste. At least on this night - a snow day - I reached for this for an after playing in the snow with the kids and was hoping for a hearty wine. This was enjoyable and easy to drink, but didn't have the ripeness I prefer. It's possible it will benefit from a decant or I might have liked it better a year or more ago.
Very primary with aromas of blackberry, plum, peach skins, and pepper on the nose. Tastes of blackberry, black raspberry, and pepper on the palate. Acid and tannins are already in balance and this drank way too easily!

Decanted 5 hrs. Classic X (early appeal) Y (destined to age well) axis intersection here. Immediate appealing with dark fruits, both sweet and savory, eucalyptus and mint, spices around the edges, and just the right amount of oak to stick the landing on the finish. For my taste, Papera is a Zinfandel Super Second vineyard on a really bad day. However, more than not, it belongs in the top tier as a 1st Growth, both for Bedrock and Carlisle renditions.

Violet/Ruby color. Shy on fruit at first but huge initial waves of spice (pepper, mulling spices). The red and blue fruits came around with some time in the glass.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis), blackberry, plum and oak. It tastes like blackberry, black currant (cassis) and oak. The body is medium/full. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

3 hour decant, deep ruby color, earthy, with rich fruit, very bold, black cherry, some oak, dark blueberry, black currants, raspberry, lots of complexity, drinking well now, and will only get better.

3 hour decant, drank through the evening, complexity has developed further since my last sampling. Really good, and likely to get even better. Enjoy!

Nice mix of reds and blues, plump and fruit forward, with a mildly spicy finish. Alcohol is apparent but well judged.
