It’s tasty but the level of ripeness surpasses most things I’ve had in this price range. It’s actually like 2 bottles of Daou Soul of Lion densely compressed into one 750 ml of this. Smooth with fine tannin and no heat but don’t see this style aging well.

Tasted at EMW Grand tasting. What a treat! I was pointed towards this wine by a lot of the other tables and I see why this is considered a special wine. Great structure, power, and complexity with elegance. Silky texture. Chocolate, black fruits, floral, and mineral. This is a well-made wine but the price is a bit steep! There were a lot of good wines to compare to and although I’m glad I tried this, at this price it’s not something I’m looking to add to my cellar.

Beautifully smooth and balanced. Not too fruit forward or overly jammy. We decanted for about an hour and it only got more delicious and amazing with time. It was too good to last to the 2 hour point. But, we will definitely be getting a few more bottles of this masterpiece. We are loving 2019 in Napa!
Tasted at a friend’s wine store on its second day. I’ve had numerous vintages of Dao’s entry level and Reserve cabs but I’ve always found them underwhelming - fruit bombs in my opinion. I’ve never considered purchasing this wine because I figured it probably wasn’t my style in light of those experiences. I was so wrong. Purple fruit - blackberry, currants, and some dark cherry. Smooth mid-palate with a beautiful purity and nice depth/concentration. Nice rich flavors of cocoa, some spice, cassis, and a graphite component. Fairly long finish. I apparently can’t bad mouth Paso Robles cabs anymore - as good as anything that I’ve had over the past year. No surprise of the 99 rating from Dunnuck and 98 from WA. 100% cab.
