Pop and pour at a restaurant - an approach which did not do this bottle justice. Raspberry colored cloudy robe. Flavors of strawberry and ripe raspberry. Still a little tight with dusty tannin, but the acidity was gone and the balance wasn’t quite there.

Light to medium body. Prominent strawberry notes. Nice balance. A little tightly wound at first, and benefitted from air during the evening. While this presents some tertiary flavors, it is still drinking quite young and has many years of life ahead.

with Brad, Deanne and Jeff. WOTN, nose to die for, still a little tight but beautiful red fruits and stunning length. Pure as the driven snow. Fantastic wine.

An amazingly ethereal nose, red fruited, spicy, but the palate was harshly tannic and never opened up. Opened 1-2 decades too soon, hold if you have some.

Chicago Wine Flock...Gary Opens Cali Cab (Chez Weber - Chicago IL): Tasted double blind. I immediately thought this from Gevrey with meaty black fruit and some roasted game notes. Moderate power and length. Slight barnyard hints add some character, but perhaps more than I'd prefer.

I had originally scored this 99 points when tasted on release 10 or 12 years ago. It has been shut down for several years now since. Remains brooding, deep and rich on nose and palate with requisite foresty funk to remind us where it's from. Need to stay away for at least another 6 to 8 years or it's otherwise a waste of something great yet to happen.

wow, talk about the ugly duckling growing up into the stunning white swan. Had this in 2007 when I thought it pretty metallic and one-dimensional... my notes read "hang on and hope something happens" well, 8 years down the track and this wine has blossomed amazingly. Now approaching maturity, it is full of red fruits, Gevrey earth and truffles. Gorgeous length, voluptuous mouth-feel...such a seductive wine. thank goodness I applied the old Burgundy adage "if it ant no good, just hang on" easy 96 points, no hurry to consume this one.

This winewas soft, sexy and extremely complex. The nose starts with subtle white truffle and crushed raspberries. On the palate it is silky and inviting. The fruit was extremely well balanced with th acidity and secondary flavors of crushed stone and chalk added a nice component to the light red cherry and raspberry fruit. Outstanding wine. The wine needed about 30 to 40 minutes in the decanter to open up. And it blossomed therafter.

Deep purple/red color. When initially poured the nose was dominated by oil can aromas (as described by jwsmith). This was very pronounced, but faded as the wine sat in the glass to reveal ripe cherry aromas. In the mouth this is extremely youthful and compact with dark fruit and minerality. Showing lots of structure and tannin, but with a nice core of fruit. Should improve with additional time. I'd hold off opening these for 3-5 years if possible.

The first bottle showed a little cork taint and a lot of brett. The replacement bottle showed a lot of brett but no cork taint. The aroma is somewhat dominated by meat and horse character. There is fruit density in the mouth but one suspects it has shut down tight and this stage of its evolution coupled with the brett leaves a clipped metallic finish. Very disappointing wine and way over-priced.

This was classic Leroy with the unmistakable oil can aroma and thick complex ever changing fruit bowl... A little dusty, but clean and nice. A very balanced wine that has not aged at all. Pick one up if you se it anywhere....
