A spectacular showing from Méo's most underrated wine. Plenty of umami here with a silk texture, breadth, depth, and almost (not quite) crystallinity, but great precision nonetheless. Intense and plenty of freshness, Cellared since original release.

Elegant and refined, soft fruit with a long and light finish. Reference standard Corton, this is drinking so well now and should remain fresh and balanced for at least a couple of years, perhaps a lot more. I have been privileged to taste this wine many times, and except one corked bottle it has been very consistent.

In a lovely phase of development, retaining fruit and body, with soft tannins and enticing sous bois. Will hold here for sometime, so no rush, but I doubt it will get much better. Drink over the next 3-5 years.

Opened and the first few hours was really tight and unyielding. Only started to open up more than 24 hours later after taking out of cellar and allowed to warm up a little. Dark cherries with hints of cedar, cassis. Probably could keep for another 5-6 years and get better.

Floral aroma and precise, elegant palate. This was superb as a pop and pour, at peak should hold for at least a few years and perhaps many. Lovely. A reminder of how great Cote de Beaune reds can be, and that Meo can mesmerize.

Great Wine Dinner with Friends (Sepia - Chicago IL): Wonderful combination of a cross-section of red fruit with slowly cooked mushroom. Dense and nicely complex as well with sweet and savory Vosne spice. Cleanly in its peak drinking window.

Young, big wine that only started to reveal itself after an hour in the glass. At that point, the wine became very floral. A dense wine with good length, that will only get better with time.

Magnums of Meo (Vosne-Romanee - Burgundy): Tasting from magnum, at domaine. Soft and superbly textured with fully mature red fruits. Excellent baking spice Incredible elegance with power on finish. Didn't seem like 1996 at the beginning but that firmness is there, just nuanced. Great length.

The wine was opened 1-2h before tasting. The color was a dark red, quite a bit of matter but not completely obscure. The nose was extremely interesting with dark red fruits mixed with a strong but pleasant earthy component, great complexity and personality. Very streamlined palate, crisp attack but with good matter behind and a long, energetic lift in the end. The wine is certainly not unbalanced by the 1996 acidity, this is a great wine and might possibly improve even more in the next years.

Lovely wine straight from opening. Didn't need much time to open up to full bouquet of flowers, fresh berries especially of strawberries, cassis and plums. Well rounded wines with flavours of more berries, vanilla and mushrooms. Some bricking around the edges, but an excellent wine which is great to drink now. I think this wine will peak out around 2018 or so and have even more depth than it already does

Medium red color with slight brick rim and slightly cloudy. Nice nose of aged red burgundy, lots of plums, nice secondary flavors, took an hour to open up. Full and ripe palate with good complexity rarely found in Corton red. Still can cellar for much longer.

Deep, dark garnet color with barely a trace of bricking at the edge. The nose is classic and elegant with traces of cherry and strawberry mixed with truffles and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, it's refreshingly fruity. Strawberry jam and a bit of raspberry mixed with a hint of truffles and earth, and balanced with just the right amount of acidity. The finish lingers and alternates between wisps of red berries, mint, bark, and the ever present truffles. This is a beautiful wine. My only regret is that I have no more to try in 8-10 years as it's still a child and will certainly improve. Wait if you can.

Neville's Pre-Wedding Dinner (Atelier, Sydney): Very earthy nose, with additional notes of menthol and cloves. Palate has the acidity at the fore, giving the wine a lift and carrying the structured tannins.
