Pnp. Crazy dense dark fruit. Amazing. Not incredibly complex but so, so enjoyable. My friend went on a Shiraz buying spree after tasting this. It was remarkable and not fading yet. Great wine

The nose opened with a rush of blueberry pie but after a few swirls it settled down into dark cherry, plum and framboise with ceder, strong sweet coffee and pipe tobacco. In the mouth black cherry, plum and blood orange with szechuan peppercorn, forest floor and dusty chalk. Big and rich but with good acid and soft tannin.
Drinking lovely right now but I don't think there is any hurry.

This one is like Bluebarry Pie. And that's a good thing. But just like blueberry pie, a steady diet of even the best one on earth would become pretty boring after just a short time. This shiraz, from the Mighty Barossa, seems to have smoothed out a little too much. Tannins and acid and anything woody or herbal or earthy - gone! So while it was enjoyable, to a point, rather unintersting at this point for me. Drink now!

Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium-plus expressiveness, sweet black berry, licorice, tobacco, and black earth. Palate: Full bodied, sweet black fruit attack, nice spice driven mid-palate lift, earth, tobacco, and licorice join in the back-end but delicious dark fruit dominates and persists through a 45-60 second finish. This is drinking wonderfully at the moment.

This is a stunning example of BV Shiraz that's full bodied with big, bold, rich, teeth staining, in your face, unctuous dark fruit (mostly cassis), some earthy undertones, cedar, leather, pipe tobacco, licorice, black pepper and fine grained, but still rather firm, tannins on the long satisfying finish. This is drinking beautifully tonight after about 3 or 4 hours of double decanting. It's fully mature but still has a youthful bounce to its step.

Opened, poured through a Vinturi into a decanter, and let sit for an hour. Clear, dark garnet color. Good varietal nose with a lot of fruit aroma. Medium body - tannins are starting to soften since my last bottle - still has some heat from the alcohol - medium-lengthed finish. Better than the last bottle. Paired very well with Santa Maria-style Tri-tip with homemade pico de gallo.

Dark purple color. First scent is dried prunes and smoky with high alcohol. Forest floor as well. Taste did not impress. Full body but fruit was stunted by alcohol and dried flavors.

PnP at a Maroma beach restaurant in Mexico. Very solid wine. Smooth, elegant, well-balanced and not a total fruit bomb like many Shiraz. I agree that the wine was a bit thin but definitely worth every penny of the $28 I paid for this bottle. Did not formally score but probably would have scored in the 89-91 range.

nice, but has lost some fruit over the last year or so. I would say drink this up now. I agree with the pickle comment - a little sour/bitter on the back end - not sure if this is the age talking? don't remember this at all when I first had this.

A little closed right now but still rich and full bodied with good fruit but just not showing much on the nose as Kilikanoon's usually do. The fruit in this bottle also wasn't bursting out and as rich as others so just may be going through a little bit of a closed phase.

Popped 1 hour before first pour, consumed over 2 days - notes consistent. Nose: Nice intensity, initially smoke, licorice, black berry, and rusty earth. Later the smoke and rusty earth aromas receded and the dark fruit and licorice dominated. Palate: Expecting a full bodied wine, I surprisingly found this to be medium bodied showing ripe dark fruit and, not surprisingly with 15% abv, a little heat on the back end. Finish: Medium length, dominated by dark fruit with black pepper.

15% ABV. Popped and poured. Notes from memory. Deeply colored, dark opaque garnet in the glass. Ripe black fruit with a touch of liqueur on the nose. Medium-full bodied and fairly plush on the attack with sweet/tangy boysenberry-like fruit on the palate. Very good, albeit hinting at a little too much pickle barrel acidity and a little one dimensional. Did enjoy this more than my previous bottle.

Drank this as part of a Syrah/Shiraz tasting. Also tried the 2004 Testament, which I have tried several times before and generally prefer. But the 2005 Testament was the star of the night and the consensus favorite of people at the tasting. Smooth and well structured with nice vanilla, blackberry, and oak notes. This is a bit more restrained than some other Syrah/Shiraz fruit bombs. Good acidic balance and nice finish with more manageable tannins than the 2004 Testament at the moment.

Aerated and poured. Not nearly ready to drink, but it did open over time with pronounced cherry, cedar, and chocolate flavors. This needs at least another few years in the bottle to integrate. This was much improved on the second night, with the tannins and oak taking a backseat to the berry flavors. The 2004 Testament is not ready to drink either, but is much more approachable at the moment and probably has more potential than the 2005 Testament. The market price for both appears to reflect the difference in quality.

wow - its a fruit bomb, but its one that DARPA spent a lot of money developing so its using super-advanced fruit technology. decanted 2 hours. the nose has all kinds of berry jams mixed with a little gaminess. has a thick, almost port-like mouthfeel, more and more jams, and after decanting still had some coiled up tannins. everything was well integrated. finish went a long way. i'm new to this style, but i would have a hard time picking this out from super-rich CA zins. i would definitely re-buy this, not so much for my own enjoyment but to see what it does in the cellar or have ready when Robert Parker comes to dinner.
