  • Man did I hate this wine. It's not flawed, I guess, so its got that going for it. And it's aromatically not unpleasant, in a stemmy-pinot sort of way. But while other Alsace producers have moved past the worst excesses of the 1990s-2000s, this leans into them; its an over-extracted, slightly bitter, slightly overripe mess that tastes of worchestershire sauce and black cherry. Ugh.

  • Only my second Alsatian Pinot Noir. Med ruby, unfiltered. Med (+) nose, with prevalent stemmy aromas from long pressing of whole clusters, followed by macerated wild strawberries, plums, tea leaves, tobacco, forest floor. Dry, with med to med (+) acidity and tannins and somewhat high alcohol (14%). Surprisingly full-bodied and intense for such a high latitude PN, it has a moderately long, savory finish. It is a little too young at 2 yrs and is likely to improve with further aging. 89+ Quite interesting.
