Decanted for 1 hour. Ripe nose, rich with a bit of tropical fruit and banana, lacking the usual PYCM flinty mineral element. Gorgeous palate, deep and luxurious without being heavy. Grand cru quality breadth of flavor and fruit. Great lemon infused acidity, nicely balanced with the sweetness from the fruit and vintage. Long finish. Excellent.

Blinds at Jason Mark III(?): Served double blind. A brute of a wine - this has real heft. On the nose, quite a bit of oak and very tropical notes - guava, tropical flavors. No reduction. The palate is heavy, but not in a California way - more of a "grand cru" sort of way, this had depth and a long slightly tropical finish (the oak tells). The depth made me call this a "grand cru" Meursault (i.e. from a top 1er site), though I thought it was considerably younger. Really defies the vintage, as the acidity and structure belies a 2006 white Burgundy. That said, the oak is still intrusive and the tropical flavors just aren't my thing in white Burgundy. Also the reason why I don't give wine points - this is a very well made wine, just not my style - a bit too much oak and tropical notes. What Konsgaard aspires to be on its Plato's ideal day, really. I preferred the Carillon Referts (unsurprisingly).

Wednesday Dinner at Friends' House (Their House, Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong): Light silver gold colour. Lightly scented perfumed lemon balm nose. Hints of butterscotch with extended time in the glass. Palate is beautiful mouthfeel...rich melted butter but with balancing broken oyster shells minerality and an enhancing acidity. Then you get this heavy melted unsalted butter on the tongue as it gets to cool room temperature and that adds another dimension. High-heeled and elegant. Beautifully made. 92+

2006 PIERRE-YVES COLIN-MOREY LES PERRIERES MEURSAULT 1ER CRU- this was an amazing wine which kept on unfolding over time and reaching a grand climax after it had already satisfied greatly; initially, there was a strong hit of spearmint in the nose; there was also fresh spicy lemon zest with traces of lime and green apple with an underlying honeyed tone along with the bright acidity,; it was full bodied and had a viscous texture which served to extend and expand upon the finish, coating the palate with all of its goodness.

PWTG MP flight, 4th place out of 6 wines. Lovely nose, a little on the mature side. Resolved palate, very elegant but not very energetic. Low acid, that pokes thru slightly on the finish.

Decades of Decadence - x6s (Tetsuya's, Sydney, Australia): Blind. Apricot, flint, floral notes, lemon, apple and graphite - it seems quite ripe on the nose. The palate brings things back into focus, with fine detail and really good acidity driving the balance. Great texture and volume. Very very good, but next to another blind wine that decidedly spectacular.

La Paulee de San Francisco - The Verticals (RN74 - San Francisco CA): Vertical tasting, brief note. Same great lemon and nut aromatic and flavor profiles as the younger vintages in the flight, but with less power, intensity and energy, while also seemingly slightly more ripe.

There’s a little toasty oak at first but the wine breathes to show great purity and focus. It is relatively compact with subtle and sensual whiffs of white flowers, perfectly ripe peach and a little spice. In the mouth there’s a sheath of exotic ‘06ness’ wrapped tightly around a rigid, linear core of ‘Perrieresness’ and it finishes with good chalky drive and authority.
