PNP. Powdered lemon candy, herbs and citrus on the nose. Tart palate, moderate level of salinity and viscosity coupled with concentrated and lively fruit delivers a well balanced and enjoyable mouth feel.

greenish pale straw and mildly viscous. lovely herbal and floral notes grace the nose of citric and orchard fruit with whiffs of fresh pineapple and stone. fresh and very smooth in the mouth, fruit layers unfold with elegance and delicate interplay with veins of citric acidity, marine salinity, tropical beeswax, herbal spice, and slatey minerality. integration is such that i had to consciously try to pick out the individual elements… remarkable persistence rounds out the experience.
impeccably balanced to the point of being enjoyable by itself even at this early stage. it needs a bit more time to turn the corner into proper drinkability, but is hinting at excellence at the moment. reminded me of a stellar young GG/1ÖTW Riesling (that's a compliment, BTW); i may be conservative in my rating.
13% AbV; 14-15 months' ageing, of which, for 50-60% of the wine 5-6 months were on fine lees in French oak barrels averaging 6 seasons of use.

tasted at the domaine; 60% barrel aging; ripe apple and pear, floral and sea breeze; seems warmer and riper, but still fresh; very elegant feel on the palate with length that builds; finishes with a lovely saline nervosite

2023 La Paulee Grand Tasting of 2020 Burgundy (Pier 60, New York): Light, greenish tint. Beautiful broth/citrus aromas. Medium weight. Lively herb and citrus, superb acidity and stone. Great cut and drive. Remarkable for the vintage and one of the best white wines of the day.

NR as I didn't pay too much attention, but remember this being really nice (have heard mixed reviews of the 2020 vintage for white burgs)... glad to have a half case... I'm thinking could have given it a 92 maybe?

Chablis Domain Visits-Louis Michel, Pinson, and William Fèvre (Chablis, France): Yellow. Piquant seashell and stone nose. Wonderful silky glycerine feel with the fruit present in the background but downplayed. Already iodine and complex. While the acidity is a tad lower than in some of the other wines, a long, lingering soil finish provides the perfect finale. I have a soft spot for Preuses, and this one is destined to be oustanding with more time.

Grandes Maisons Grands Crus - Grands Jours de Bourgogne 2024 (Santenay): 30% oak. I find the Fevre wines to be too watery for my taste. May be it is a purist style that I don't appreciate, but this wine definitely suffered from this deficit.

Assessing 2021 Burgundy-La Paulée de Los Angeles Grand Tasting (Fairmont Miramar, Santa Monica): Medium yellow. Deeper weight and texture than either of the 2021 Grand Crus. Richer ripe lemon and algal flavors, excellent salinity and acidity. This easily outstrips the younger wines in depth and complexity, but it seems a little softer than when tasted a year ago.

Light clean color, but a lot more going on than the look. Complex earthy good acidity. Can’t wait to see what it tastes like with time.
