Delicious, but primary. Subtly stemmy on the nose that softens even more with a little air. The most gulpable aspect of this wine was a silky texture. Dark and red cherry and black soil, but somehow light on its feet with gentle black tannin, and slight bitter cacao and slight stemmy spice on the finish. 93-94

La Paulee NY. Stems intermingled with black fruited scents. Meaty, soil inflected, with lovely textures, quite tannic and more structure than the Morey Villages, but very fine tannins, very polished needs mid term cellaring. Good at its level.

2023 La Paulee Grand Tasting of 2020 Burgundy (Pier 60, New York): Lovely dark red fruit with incredible depth despite its medium to light weight. Gentle earth runs through it from beginning to end, and the tannins are refined and mouth coating. Subtle and gorgeous now and for the intermediate time frame.

Ample structure but light on its feet. Has cherry and plum fruits with some ginger spice. There’s a rich core of fruit. Should be wonderful after a long slumber in the cellar.

Tasting at Domaine Dujac (Morey St. Denis): Bottled 3 weeks prior to tasting. More black cherry than the MSD wines with distinct meaty spice. Excellent concentration and another wine that will need some time. 92-93+

La Paulee 2023 - Grand Tasting (New York): Brief impressions at La Paulee. Some nice perfume on the nose. Almost closed palate. Hard to rate at this stage.

Tuesday Burgundy Cellar Visits - Mugneret-Gibourg, Dujac, Château de la Tour, and Fourrier (Cote d'Or): Barrel tasting at the domaine. Assembled, this will be bottled next week. Black and red fruit with spice and meat notes. Very bright and elegant for young Gevrey 1er Cru, this is already quite charming in its lighter, brighter style. 90-91 point potential.
