Astoundingly beautiful palate on immediate opening, so soft, great acid in balance, thick mouth filling finish while remaining weightless across the front to back.
Within an hour went flat and turned pretty closed.
Day two, a glimpse of more clean clean floral elegance (not the overbearing Alsace aromatic varietal ‘floral’) with the same flat weight.
Day 3, holy sweet jesus. Insane blast of lemons, concentration of yellow and white stone fruit across the palate, always weightless, 1 minute-plus finish evolving from flinty smoke to churned Mosel butter to washed rind cheese to pure lemon essence. Just incredible stuff.

Pricey for a Bourgogne Blanc but assume this is declassified Puligny. Minerals, citrus, white flower and sometimes a hit of licorice on the nose, pretty complex stuff for a bourgogne. Palate slightly less interesting but with good flavors texture and a long finish. Probably improving with time.

Coravin in Marts ‘23 : Citrus and a bit too Citrus-like. A bit too young. The rest in Oct. ‘23 : Lemon with candied fruit. More round but still with clean freshness. Minerality. 86 before and 88/90 now. I will wait 6-12 month.

A light, elegant expression of fresh lemons and white peaches on the nose. Lemon and white peaches continue on the palate. A lemon rind bitterness helps wrap up a mineral, lightly saline finish. A feather light acidity accentuates the light, lengthy finish.
A pleasant, lightweight BB - perfect for a casual Saturday evening. Drinking very well after a few hours of air.

Judgement of Paris Tasting and Dinner (V. Mertz - Omaha, NE): Served alongside the 2019 Montelena. The 2020 Leflaive “Bourgogne” is obviously youthful but already showing its quality. It plays very well with the Montelena but pulls from the greatness of Puligny-Montrachet and brings a certain “je ne sais quoi” that cannot be denied. There’s more complexity and acid than the Montelena but fruit is clearly more on the citrus side of the spectrum and there’s a lovely mineral aspect as well. Only 10% new oak used and it shows…as it’s almost imperceptible relative to the Montelena. Not exactly what I would call a value Bourgogne Blanc…but when you consider that it’s not your typical Bourgogne Blanc due to the source material, I can understand the tariff. It drinks pretty special IMO. Drink now and over the next 10 years.

Air for an hour, opened up to a lovely lemon and citrus driven, great mineral and textured wine with great lift. Very long for a village wine. Probably will improve but drinking quite well; tremendous for its level putting aside price point

Dig Wine Leflaive Tasting (Dig Wines, San Francisco.): Really reminded me of past Leflaive BBs. Light to mid weight but elegantly balanced, with surprising depth. All lemony, with a fine saline finish. Perhaps a little closed but showing enough now to enjoy. I’ll hold my wine bottle for a couple of years.

2020 Leflaive from the Mācon to Puligny (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Light yellow green. More green herb and some toast on the nose too. Floral. Completely elegant weight, lemony, average acidity, and less wood than in any of the Mâconnais wines by far. Moderate length, some minerality, and less oaky finish. Slight youthful austerity but excellent. However, the QPR is simply not there at a price north of $100 per bottle.

Thought at first this was to early to pop, but with a bit of air this wine was ready to go. Fine nose with stone fruit, warm bread and quite intense. On palate very smooth, lifted and medium bodied with a core of fresh fruit and long a satiny finish. Out of the gates this performed very well and I believe it's worth the price point of 90-100 EUR in Germany.

Very tight upon opening & took about 60 minutes to open up a bit with notes of lemon, some orchard fruits, oyster shells, medium acidity and noticeable minerality in a medium body. Great balance here & a nice finish. Suprisingly not very reductive on the nose which I always associate with this domaine. This was quite nice but could benefit from some further ageing. Thankfully I scored a 6pk.

This is a beauty for its level, and an interesting stylistic contrast to the 2019, which has more richness, power, and density, while this is more ethereal and balanced…almost Chablis-like with a wet stone and oyster shell in the finish. I prefer the 19 because it rises further above it’s level, though I want (and have) both vintages in my cellar
Ps, had the 2nd half of this 2 nights later, it was losing steam. Worth noting

Entry Level Domaine Leflaive Tasting (Chicago Wine - Glenview IL): Walk around tasting. A simply wonderful Bourgogne with good balance and depth and impressive fruit density. Very good Bourgogne, even if not as clearly as good a $100 wine.
