Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Decanted (into Voss). It must've been almost 3+hrs before we came to this (and final flight) wine. Served (blind) beside a pair of '21 Lamarch Suchots & Chaumes. This sure made an impressive entrance. The bouquet was one with dark-primary fruits, "high-class" oak and spices... but it was really what followed next that was rather stunning. Waves after waves of blue-black berry fruit encased in a velvety shell hit the palate. This was power, concentration amplified, but yet maintained a nice balance/freshness without becoming overbearing. Dinner companions guessed Grand-Cru. The Wadana sure overshadowed the 2 Lamarche, leaving them in the shade... Can't wait to see how this develops with time/cellar age!

Footnote - Went to do a bit of read-up. Apparently this was done using the baie-par-baie method. Labour-intensive, but the results showed!
