Very good wine from a tough vintage. Rich black cherry fruit, smoked bacon, and bbq chicken come to mind. Disappointing flat finish suggests this is what it is and ready to drink now, grilled beef and charred mushrooms will work well, with 14.8 alc.

First vintage from the second tranche of Zins tonight. Mid garnet in the glass. Nose of Zinny dark fruit. Palate of red/black fruit, with decent balance but comes across as a bit hot on the backend. Again, I do not know of the decant given but '20 was a very hot and trying vintage even before the fires arrived. From my experience, many reds from both counties come across as more red fruited than black in this vintage.

Enjoyed over three days with several different meals. Vacuvin in between. Delivered every day in its own way. Red fruit, firm structure, silky tannins.

Disappointing, especially at its $55 tariff, perhaps reflecting a difficult vintage in Napa. One-dimensional — basically plums and blackberries — and too much residual sugar undefined by acidity. This one’s a swing and a miss for me. Pass.

This is a pretty typical CA Zinfandel loaded with overripe red fruit and a hint of green characteristics. Vanilla and cedar from the oak. My favorite part of it is the zippy, medium + acid that goes well with the full body.
Good pairing with a salami sandwich.

Low tannins. Aromas of wood & ripe blackberry. Taste is fruit forward without a predominate fruit forerunner. Good.

Still delivering. Even better on day 2 after a VacuVin

PnP. Seemed very light-bodied when we opened it and a very short-term drinker but as it got air, it gained body and complexity.

Brighter but also deeper than past vintages. Drinkable as always, but with a longer finish and just enough brooding fruit.
