  • Delicious- great showing and this wine has had a chance to resolve (structurally) from the last few times I have tasted it. Rich, effusive and yet delicate and stylish. Lots of Chambolle charm on the nose and palate with integrated tannins, elegant acidity and tons of sous bois complexity presented in an attractive, complete fashion. 93(+?)

  • Great stuff, though not quite the higher notes/dimension seen in other bottles of this (fruit sourcing from Vogue?) Tobacco dustings, soy sauce, bits of leather with dark cherry preserves/cherry aged in brandy type of a feel. Attractive Chambolle tannins; supple, rounded delicate. Opens up to more obvious sous bois and more powerful extract with air time. 91-92. The best bottles have hit closer to 93 points!! Wish I had a few more bottles, but isn't that always the case?

  • Darker color than other bottles; rich, ripe cherry intact still with cardamom and baking spice, a whiff of chocolate and caramel add a sweetness that works well with the undergrowth/gamey flavors. Very attractive and rich, though takes a good 30 minutes to come into focus in the glass. 92(+) Lots of life yet in the particular bottle.

  • Like the very best of these tasted, this bottle features the beautiful autumnal spices and tobacco smokiness that seems to float in the glass in a very aged Chambolle fashion. There is a soft, sweet quality in the mouth that buffers the fruit from any undue drying tannin. Based on the color, I would guess this was reconditioned but not refreshed (new cork). Marvelous at this level and significantly more elegant than the ‘69 Chambolle AC tasted multiple times. More structurally reminiscent to the ‘67 library release of this wine. Beautiful stuff.

  • new cork but legitimate color, more so than the '69 but who knows? Lovely elegant nose of aging red fruit with antique wooden furniture, wet soil, moss, various whispy sous bois inflections that make for a very airy, elegant experience. Shows more acidity and slightly leaner mouthfeel than the '69 or '67 but maybe its just age? Good mineral lift in the mouth and while the tannins are elegant, the remaining acidity does stick out a bit more than the lovely '67. This should hold for awhile yet. May never have quite the same richness of the '69? 91-92.

  • Remnants of strawberry fruit come through with gentle whisps of leather, tree moss and various underbrush. French onion soup in the mouth with smokey tobacco notes. This bottle definitely shows some of the Chambolle charm I always love. Fine tannins with tactile spiciness and an almost sweet quality to the aging fruit makes the impression juicy.

  • Purchased from Domaine. Light ruby with bricking to rim. Dried rose petal nose with long palate of dried forest mushrooms and sweet strawberries-classic chambolle from declassified Vogüé grapes that speaks well to, and of the 78 vintage-every burg lover should have a case in their cellar.

  • My third time having this over the past 8 years or so, it's holding up quite well. Fair color with orange tinge and significant clear rim; nice perfumed nose with wet stone and classic old burg stink; nice fruit, soft and very long with a rich, sweet finish. Spiciness comes out in the aftertaste. Quite mellow. excellent.

  • Great showing of this tonight. Potent decaying wood and barnyard. Fruit showed through enough. Not as "Chambolle" as other bottles.

  • Completely different from the last bottle, which had more potpourri and stewed fruit. This bottle was closed at first, but after 20 minutes became very Chambolle with wet stones, roses and perfume on the nose. Silky and smooth on the palate but missing something on the finish. A great surprise after the last bottle disappointed and drinking really well for a 35 year-old villages wine.
