This still is "lively," which is relieving versus the 2005 we had in December 2014 in the tasting room, and was showing serious signs of age. Fortunately, the 2006 shows potentially another year or two for peak in my opinion. The grenache seems to be the main driver of tannins and needing softening to come to peak. This is similar to the 2006 TH Grenache in that sense.

This wine is exactly what I like in a Cali Rhone blend. Delicous red fruit, silky texture, with enough complimentary elements (pepper, tar) to keep it interesting. Seems to be in a very nice place right now, and I certainly wold recommend popping one open in the near furture. Very well done.
Side note. Based on my experience to date, I prefer the TH blends (Pick and 46) to the Syrah. Interesting in that I seem to see and read more about the latter.

Splash decanted for about 3 hours. Great aromas; this was a revelation in its power, gorgeous fruit/cocoa character and complexity all bundled together in an awesome package. Smooth mouthfeel, no heat and ripe/integrated tannins. Loved it.

Delicious. Other than at the winery my first Terry Hoage . Big lush ,extravagant .Very fruit forward, almost jammy. Very smooth. Took right out of the cellar so a tad cold but still showed beautifully.

Pop and pour. A jammy wine with thick texture, dark red fruit, and low to medium acidity, and medium to full body. Did sense the alcohol, but still a very nice fruit forward wine to enjoy. Paired well with lamb chops.

-- popped and poured – -- tasted non-blind over a couple hours – -- 55% Grenache, 28% Syrah, 11% Mourvedre, 6% Counoise –
NOSE: ripe red and purple fruits; peppery dark raspberry with hints of prune and funk; chalk; faint herb notes; alcohol is a bit noticeable; some oak.
BODY: rustic black cherry color of medium-deep depth; fine particulate matter present; medium-full to full bodied.
TASTE: primary ripe purple fruits; noticeable French oak; good acid/tannin balance – polished tannins; a bit warm (15.3% alc.); a touch sweet; full palate; moderately complex; long finish (45 – 63 sec.); drinks well now, but could improve with short or mid-term cellaring.

I am a big fan of these wines and while I would like to have let it age a bit more, I popped it anyway. Ruby in color with purple swirls. the nose is big and welcoming. Black and red raspberries, leather, grilled meats and some funk. Full bodied. On the palate, this is lush and drink smoothly with no heat despite the 15.3%. Lots of red and purple fruits with some pepper. Nice finish. It is a big wine, but balanced.

55% grenache, 28% syrah, 11% mourvedre, 6% counoise. 15.3% alcohol. not decanted. i really need to stock up more examples of this producer. excellent project. not exactly subtle. very fruit forward, not a wine i would age much...drink by 2011, but what a delight on a tuesday night. beautiful red fruits, awash in tannins, a hint of alcohol, characteristics that can kill lesser quality wines; no bother here. fun, delicious wine that is an easy recommendation.

Dark purple color. Black cherry aromatics. Tastes of raspberry, blackberry, boysenberry, tar, tobacco, anise, spice and cedar. Rich mid palate. Well balanced. Good freshness. Earthy complex finish that lingers on the palate for almost a minute. This wine has shed its baby fat and is now showing more refinement. 55% Grenache, 28% Syrah, 11% Mourvedre and 6% Counoise. 15.3% alcohol.

15.3% alcohol. not decanted. chewy tannins wrapped in very lively fruit. not alcoholic or hot on the finish, but smashingly bold and unabashedly american despite it's chateauneuf pedigree. i like the texture and mouthfeel reflected in the full body and highly structured midpalate. nice red fruit lingering on the finish. jane says 93, and i don't have a strong argument against such a lofty score. this wine is on fire tonight.

Fruit forward nose of cherry pie filling and mixed spices. A nice Rhone blend with a California bent to it, flavors big but kept in balance with acid making this a good food wine in my opinion. Decent finish. Nice winery to visit.

Very nice Southern Rhone nose, A little spice mixed with ripe fruit. While not overly sweet for my tastes you can tell it has a majority of California grown Grenache in it.. Farly low in acidity but the spiceness keeps it from being too flat. Very nice silky mouthfeel, almost feminine. Drinks very well early with the tannins well integrated. Getting Vanilla at the end. 90+Pts
After a couple of hours. Getting a little sweet for me. Too bad. 89Pts.

This wine really started to show after 2-3 hours of being open. Very rich bouquet of raspberries with a hint of minerality. Wonderful silky mouth-feel which seemed syrupy. "Black" raspberries on this great mouth-coating palate.

Decanted 3 hours, consumed over the next 3. I really enjoy Terry's wines. Everything in balance, great harmony, color is a rich purple, nose is dark fruits, bacon fat and earth, very smooth in the mouth, sweet dark fruit, nice acidity, long finish. A treat to share, and a wonderful expression of the current state and future potential of the Westside of Paso Robles and rhone varietals.

This blend shows more complexity than the "Skins." Blackberries intermingle with notes of maple and spice on the complex nose. Raspberries and blackberries fight against the persistent dusty tannins. Brick ruby color of medium depth. This is another solid wine that needs at least a year or two in the cellar. This was Ashley’s favorite of the tasting.
