Rich and full bodied. Some primary dark fruit remains. Tannins are well integrated and smooth. Coffee and chocolate dominate, alcohol is noticeable but not out of balance. At its peak. A

Looking at my last note there is obviously significant bottle variation, but this was a fantastic bottle, still well within its drinking window. Prime red fruit, spicy licorice, classic Barossa Valley and excellent value.

So, my last bottle from the same batch, and this still had a good few years life left: light brownish tint on rim, totally healthy cork, beautiful aromatics
Drunk with a Basque dish, enough restrained power to show dark fruit, supple tannins and a dash of black pepper on the finish. Then, with Camembert, succulent.
Current prices from this vineyard are well over $100. This is an absolute bargain and a relative steal

Recommended by the bottle shop but not nearly up to the quality of the others. Primary and simple, and alcohol on the nose. Blueberry with medium acidity and recessive tannins and not very long. Nice wine for gargle but not a keeper.

Somewhat beyond its peak but holding on for now, not much fruit but plenty of licorice and savoury elements. Drink soon.

Starting to show its age after an hour or two. On the down slope
Ripe flavours, tannins soft, medium textured finish

Not so many notes. Soft chocolate, dark fruits. Long finish. Fully mature. Drink now or soon.
