Belated note. Well balanced, pure pinot with good fruit blended nicely with subtle oak. Slightly sweet, but neither excessively so nor obviously new world. Very polished tannins. Easy to like and drink now. I wonder how this will mature as a couple of days after opening it hadn't really moved.

Screams California, but very good California. No-one would confuse this with Burgundy (the Rhys model), but this is a wonderful wine that could never be produced in Burgundy. Enjoy it for what it is. Very well balanced.

From Cherry, wild berries, rose to black tea, oriental spices. Bright acidity. little espresso after taste. This bottle is middle range of Rhys, but delicate and delicious enough. Recommend to drink on room temp, not too chill.

Pine needles. on the nose. Thankkfully ,this is not transferred to the palate. Copious fruit is displayed in a restrained style intended to emulate Burgundy.Well balanced wine in a style that only Rhys seems to produce in California. Drinks well for a young Rhys. As Burgundy prices ascend to the stratosphere, Rhys looks better and better.

Beautiful, soft-edged with bright fruit and acidity, sort of right down the middle in terms of big vs delicate with pillowy tannins. This is drinking well right out of the gate.

Earthy and unique red fruit character, notes of red and black cherry, currant, cranberry, rhubarb, prune, earth and herbs. Deep, rich, almost sweet flavor with lots of stewed red fruit on the finish. Enjoyable and rich, but not super complex and slightly bitter. Very unique flavor profile. This can age longer but is in a nice spot right now.

California at it's best. Not Burgundy, but it avoids the over extraction that robs Pinot Noir of it's essence.
