My previous tasting notes for 2008, 2013 and 2019 were in the 87-88p range. Must say that I like 2021 somewhat better, i.e. less one-dimensional. Refreshing palate with gooseberry, lemon, and excellent minerality. Nice apero!

Smashingly fresh and racy. Lovely acidity, lime and stone fruit. This is definitely, at least right now, on the straightforward side of Riesling’s potential character, but nonetheless it is fun and elegant.

A blend of fruit from Weil’s high-altitude sites dotted around the village. These vineyards include the Sandgrub vineyard and there is also a good portion from Wasseros, a steep, southwest-facing vineyard that abuts the Gräfenberg vines. The soils of these sites are typically composed of stony, fragmented phyllite interlaced with loess and loam. At this level, the wine is vinified in stainless steel with less than 5% fermented in large oak. Flavours of citrus oil and white flowers alongside saline and steely mineral notes. The palate bursts with leesy succulence and mouth-watering freshness, while the close is sleek and long, finishing with remarkable clarity and racy finesse. This is already a world-class Riesling and it is the entry level wine.

A fine Riesling from Herr Weil, it provides great PQR or QPR and a certain elemental gripping of the stiffy. What more can one want?
I am always sceptical of big claims for difficult vintages - too often they are either just rank marketing ploys or reflect the fact that the maker managed to rescue something passable from atrocious conditions. However, based on my tasing of German Riesling from 2021, this is one that rewarded those with commitment to rigorous vineyard management. As one would expect, Weil is one such.
Lighter colour than usual, this also provides a bit more subtlety and delicacy on the nose and palate than has been the case in some of the warmer recent years. Other notes have done a fine job of assessing the characters in this wine, though I will add that I also get some Sherbert, a slightly fizzy, lemon flavoured confectionary. I love it. I wouldn't want to have to choose between this and the base level Eva Fricke wines but noting that this is about $10-20 cheaper than the wines of the Rhenish Rampager, you really can't lose.
I am also delighted to note that this came to me under screw cap, so no dicing with cork taint, oxidation or the myriad other risks imposed by the use of cork.
Not for the first time, this wine puts me in mind of the free-wheeling San Francisco band Hot Tuna and I want to sing 'Keep on trocken Mama, trocken my blues away...' I bet they have never heard this play on words in Germany. Genius is hell. When a wine puts one in this mood it might almost be churlish to score it as 'Excellent' only...

Very light color. Fruit dominating the nose and especially the palate. Minor fungal notes that blow off quickly. Good acidity and overall balance. Unashamedly easy drinking. Perfect for a warm summer night.

Very nice, great acid. Bought as wine one of two for last night of fondue in FL. Silvia liked it.

Kinda quiet on the nose. And with some bolder texture on the palate. A bit richer and bigger. Joe's haten on it but there it is.

Solid Riesling nose, a bit floral with mature peach. Solid acidity, with air also some lime and minerals. Very enjoyable and great qpr.

Very nice Riesling. Crisp minerally acidity. Lime and apple, and mushroom. Needs about 10 minutes to open up.

Pleseant nose but rather light. Significantly concentration of fruit on the palate with sharp clear cut acid. Good viscosity. Well made.
