This is an incredibly delicious Syrah... so mellow and smooth, with the delicious peppery notes that I love in a Syrah. This is a great wine, and I can't believe the price point. I will definitely be buying more.

Minimalist Wine Tasting: This is such a show stopper. It is fully in the savory spectrum, but not bc it's under ripe. This is the Northern Rhone styled wine of the two upper tier wines for me. At the tasting, it showed no fruit aromatically, and was a little mean. But the palette was incredible, with saline and peppercorn notes everywhere, along with raspberry and spices and more. Hours later it reached a whole other level, with green and white peppercorn emerging from the bouquet, along with red fruits. This is really incredible, world class stuff. If you can find this, buy it.

Savory and rich aromatics, fruit forward and a great pairing with pasta or meatballs. Greatly improved after being open for some time. Tried with Minimalist's other Syrahs and this is my favorite. Very impressed with this wine!

This is full of so many cool savory tones, and has a lot of notes you would find in the Northern Rhone. Yet unlike a lot of new world examples that can also seem a little unde ripe this still has great fruit and balance. It's a great bottle of wine, and the story behind it makes me think the wines of Mr. Lamson are only going to go up in price. Highly recommended for an wonderful South African expression of Syrah at a reasonable priced for the quality.

This alongside the rugby (didn’t have any NZ wine in the house sadly). Nose of sweet strawberry, smoky meat, a little lifted “monkey blood” strawberry syrup, and fist full of green peppercorns. Similarly fresh on the palate and a little more settled than the last bottle.

The nose is savory, rich, yet balanced with licorice, black cherries, raspberries, olive tapenade, violets, crushed rocks, black pepper. This shows off good depth and meatiness after a few hours open. The Medium/full bodied feel is balanced and robust with mouthwatering, medium+ acid silky, medium tannins. This is a delicious Syrah from South Africa. The producer is new to me, but count me as a fan of this bottle.

A private dinner (Restaurant SAAM, Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, NL): Made with 100% Syrah from Cape Agulhas (two low-altitude plots 8km from the ocean), aged for 10 months in neutral French oak. Very similar in style to the Experimental 2020, but everything dialled up a notch or two, salt and pepper, cherries and violets.

Distinctly peppery nose with sweet red cherry and redcurrant. Rich but fresh red fruited palate, a lick of white pepper and spice, a little stemmy, great intensity with a dense silky mouthfeel
Clear use of whole bunch here and this creates a very fresh youthful wine. I was not sure when to open this but good now.

Going to be great - I feel a little annoyed that I "wasted" one of my small allocation of this wine when it was so young. Try again in 24 months,

As good as the 2020 vintage, if a little more brooding. Tobacco, leather, cranberry (?), mid weight. I’m sure it’ll turn into something great.
